This novel uses an experimental approach in combining a very readable form of verse novel (free verse with no specific rhyme or rhythm) as a unique way to tell a story that is more character-driven through a rich inner dialog. Additional inserted short poems give further insight into the heart of the main character, Angie. As much is written between the lines and in the specific word choices as in the action, though much also happens in this dark tale. The story created is that of a great domed City with no future, no past, and little hope under a tyranny from which even the dead cannot escape. Angie retreats to her own world of music and poetry, ghosts and Angels, until she awakens as a healer. The future may depend on Angie’s ability to get beyond her own pained and tormented past to learn City’s secrets and to be the catalyst to open human hearts, to unite the remnants of humanity, and to break the bounds of time itself to heal the earth.
