Zahara and the Lost Books of Light is a sensational novel that will take its readers on an action-packed but poignant journey from start to finish. Zahara and the Lost Books of Light is an incredible book that will introduce the reader to the protagonist of the novel, Alienor Crespo, a journalist whose life changes forever when she boards a plane from her home in Seattle to Spain to discover her Sephardic heritage. It is here in Spain that she stumbles across a library, filled with books saved from the Spanish Inquisition and comes to learn it was the bravery of her ancestors that ensured these texts were saved. Alienor, however, is no ordinary woman, she is gifted with second sight and so we follow her in the past and present as she finds herself having to protect the texts from extremists looking to erase the history of peace between Muslims, Christians, and Jews. The result is an unforgettable and thought-provoking tale that should not be missed and this book lovers is the short premise of the incredible Zahara and the Lost Books of Light!

Zahara and the Lost Books of Light is a stellar story that had me intrigued from the very start. Joyce Yarrow is a newly discovered author of mine, and I have to confess book lovers that I am kicking myself for not having found Yarrow’s book sooner! I am frustrated that I have not before because it has been a long time since a history book has captivated me this much! To write a good novel the reader needs to be fully immersed in the story and feel as if they are experiencing the same events as the protagonist and Yarrow manages to accomplish this with her writing in Zahara and the Lost Books of Light, so Yarrow is most certainly worthy of an abundance of praise!

Not only is Joyce Yarrow an outstanding writer for her ability to thrust her readers into the thick of the story, but she also is because she was able to describe all of the events that unravel perfectly! Every event and moment and even place is flawlessly described with a wealth of detail which in turn keeps the reader turning the pages!
