Determined to uncover the secrets of a mysterious artifact, fourteen-year-old alchemy student Craig Pike and his teacher, Cornelius, journey to the birthplace of alchemy to seek the advice of a wise, ancient alchemist named Quintus. With the help of a witty archer, Audrey Clife, they trek across dangerous lands, compete in a cutthroat tournament, and reunite with old friends. They soon find out the artifact is more powerful than anticipated, and they aren’t the only ones seeking to discover its secrets….
A short while ago I read and reviewed a marvelous book called The Missing Alchemist which is written by the equally remarkable author, Caldric Blackwell. The story is a bewitching one full of breathtaking events and beings that will have the readers mind full of wonder. The story was so radiant that upon finishing it, I immediately wanted to read book two The Sacred Artifact and wow what a sequel book lovers!
Before I let you lovely readers know more about The Sacred Artifact, I think it is only right that I share more about the first book The Missing Alchemist! So I have attached a snippet of my review that will introduce you to this excellent series.
“The Missing Alchemist is a fantasy adventure that will introduce the reader to the protagonist, Craig Pike. Craig is a young man who grew up in an orphanage so when he eventually becomes the student of the famous alchemist, Cornelius, he does not take it for granted. But soon Cornelius is kidnapped, and it is up to Craig and his friend Audrey Clife to find him. Their journey will be a dangerous one, and they will encounter many creatures along the way, but the journey is a thrilling one, and it was so amazing to be a part of!”
Now, how incredible does The Missing Alchemist sound?! The Sacred Artifact is a continuation of the story in The Missing Alchemist and will reintroduce the reader to the protagonist of the novel, Craig Pike and in book two Craig, along with his teacher Cornelius look to explore the mysterious artifact further and they do this by going on a quest, along with Audrey Clife to find Quintus, an ancient and wise alchemist who may hold the answers to their questions and this book lovers is the premise of the second book The Sacred Artifact!
The story laced throughout The Sacred Artifact is pure fantasy and will send fantasy fans wild because the fantasy laced throughout the book is mesmerizing. The journey the reader encounters in The Sacred Artifact is just as brilliant, If not more brilliant than the journey in book one The Missing Alchemist and I will explain why. I loved the story in The Missing Alchemist, so much so that I awarded it five stars! But The Missing Alchemist is the first book in the series so of course, it features heavily on plot and world development which I must add was dazzling! My point is that in The Sacred Artifact the world is already established by the incredible author Caldric Blackwell, so now Blackwell has free reign, he can expand on the book even more and go crazy with plot ideas, characters and beings and that is why I feel that I loved The Sacred Artifact just that bit more because the world is established and the journey thrilling!
Caldric Blackwell is seriously an insanely good fantasy writer because he knows what to write to entertain and keep his readers thrilled until the very end. Blackwell has many strong writing abilities, but his core talent has to be that of world development. The development of the story in The Sacred Artifact is breathtaking because the world the reader encounters in the first book is expanded on even more. I admit I was shocked by this because I did not believe it could be because the world was so flawlessly and immaculately developed in book one, but Blackwell surprised me and expanded on the story even more, and that deserves a round of applause.
As The Sacred Artifact is a fascinating, mesmerizing and riveting story that should not be missed, I, of course, have to award the stellar read a magical five stars! Be sure to have a read of the preview below book lovers.
