Shalley takes us on a poignant journey as he balances the many roles as a husband, father, and community leader with his same-sex encounters. Shalley weaves his personal experiences with his dreams, meditations, and more to explore the meanings behind same-sex attractions and the result is awe-worthy.

The reader will follow Shalley as he discovers the Green Man within him, which represents a divine masculine spirit connected to both nature and the feminine. This learned wisdom helps Shalley to live with his same-sex desires in harmony with his life’s priorities having a profound effect on his life where he can be himself. Shalley encourages all of his readers to do this and to accept their inner desires and listen to their spirits too and find harmony with themselves and this book lovers is the premise of this wonderful memoir.

Memoirs, combined with poignant and LGBT+ themes are my favorite type of books to read. I adore memoirs because they give the reader insight into a person’s fascinating life and when the reader is granted this insight the reader can learn so much from their story, and many readers will be able to learn a lot from Sheldon Shalley’s story in The Other Man in Me.

The profoundness of The Other Man in Me is sensational, and many readers will feel a host of different emotions while reading this book. Sheldon Shalley effortlessly inspires thoughts and feelings in his readers as well as compels them to read from beginning to end. I found myself reading The Other Man in Me at an alarming rate because it was captivating as well as absorbing; Shalley’s incredible literature will have you turning the pages frantically, and I adored how he was able to do this.

Sheldon Shalley is a remarkable person for two reasons; the first is because he is honest and brave to write his story, and the second is because he is an exceptionally talented author. Shalley’s excellent writing is a joy to read and flows beautifully throughout so that the reader will feel compelled to read non-stop. The life lessons learned from Shalley in The Other Man in Me will help readers better navigate through their own lives and sexuality, and that is so beautiful to me because it is rare to come across a memoir that will not only entertain but also help readers.
