The Name I Choose is a moving and captivating historical novel that will take its readers on a poignant and unforgettable journey from start to finish. The reader will be introduced to the protagonist Amalia and will be thrust back in time to 19th-century Spain. Amalia, at the tender age of fifteen, is forced to leave her home and live in a nobleman’s house. It is here that Manuel Tudo follows and watches Amalia closely, controlling her while telling her disturbing things about her mother.
When Tudo leaves for the summer, Amalia finds companionship with the future King of Spain but when she is pregnant, she is forced to flee for the safety of her unborn child. The reader will follow Amalia as she embarks on a frightening journey to safety and will follow her through all the trials and tribulations she experiences and this book lovers is the short premise of the incredible The Name I Choose!

I loved the many themes and elements explored throughout the book, and all themes are explored by Holly Brough wonderfully, and she does this by lacing these interesting themes throughout the text flawlessly and weaving them with the story. The result of this makes The Name I Choose a highly addictive and fascinating read that is never once lackluster or predictable.
Holly Brough is a phenomenal writer who knows how to grasp her reader’s attention from the first page. Brough decides to thrust her reader into the heart of the story straight away so that the reader is instantly captivated and immersed. I personally love this approach, what is the point of having a long build-up with little excitement? This is only necessary if the author in question can’t develop the characters in the story quickly, but with The Name I Choose, the reader will not encounter this issue because Brough instantly develops her characters and makes the reader invest in not only them but also their journey!
To conclude my thoughts on the wonderful book The Name I Choose, I would The Name I Choose is a wonderful, compelling, and thought-provoking novel that will easily entertain readers for many days and nights and so I, of course, have to award this stellar gem of a book five stars!
