RED HEADED BOOK LOVER

The Hidden and the Maiden, Eben Mishkin

A wizard’s failed apprentice and a self-doubting medium embark on a race against time in Eben Mishkin’s fantastical debut, The Hidden and the Maiden.

The unsociable James Rathbone, once student to the last wizard, is forced into action when his dead master’s secret elixir is stolen.

Con artist Kenton Dean uses the elixir to release the fallen god of death. He needs just one more thing for his plans to work: Helena Lawson, an heiress who holds unfathomable magical potential.

James sets off on a dangerous mission to rescue Helena and stop Kenton, but he cannot do it alone. Much to his chagrin, James must team up with Zephyr Wayne, a neurotic medium who’s convinced his powers are nothing more than the manifestation of his own psychosis.

As the only humans capable of seeing the threat, James and Zephyr must band together to save the world as they know it. But can James finally get his magic to work? And will Zephyr’s self-doubt ever allow him to unleash his full potential?

The Hidden and the Maiden is quite simply one of the most exciting, incredible, supernatural books I have ever read. The Hidden and the Maiden, has astounded me; I enjoyed every single moment of the book because it was by far a perfect read. The wonderful author of the novel, Eben Mishkin, is a true literary talent because he managed to captivate and enthrall from the very beginning. To be honest, a part of me was always going to love this book because I love supernatural novels, but even if I did not, I would still love this book because it has action and adventure and fantastic writing that will keep the reader happy in bliss!

The Hidden and the Maiden is a thrilling novel that will introduce the reader to the protagonist of the book, James Rathbone, a man who is described as unsociable and a man who was a student to the ‘last wizard.’ The reader will follow James on his journey as he soon discovers that his ‘dead master’s secret elixir is stolen’ and he must find the culprit before it is too late. The reader will follow James as he chases down Kenton Dean, the man responsible for stealing the elixir and who wants to use it to unleash evil. James must put together a team to stop Kenton and this book loves is the premise of the sensational The Hidden and the Maiden!

The story of The Hidden and the Maiden is a sensational one because it encompasses everything good about literature. It has an outlandish, brave plot, enthralling characters and an incredibly well thought out story that will keep the reader wanting to read for hours on end. The Hidden and the Maiden is a unique and extraordinary book; it is special for the obvious reasons… that it encompasses everything great about the written word, but it is unique because of the plot. The plot of this novel is something I have never read of or heard of before, it reads like a movie, and you are able to imagine the details in perfect glory. Never before have I read a book that has a ton of action as well as intellectual depth. In other words, this book has brains behind it, it is not a senseless, quick, supernatural read and I admire this!

Eben Mishkin, the author does an incredible job of piecing together action with poignancy and seamlessly integrates themes into one book of intrigue. Eben is a phenomenal writer because he is dedicated to his work as well as passionate. Eben’s passion for the written word shines off the page and into the reader’s mind; his sometimes lengthy, beautiful descriptions will send the readers mind into visual overdrive, the reader will be able to perfectly imagine every detail the reader comes across and that in my opinion, is the sign of a talented author.

To conclude my thoughts on the brilliant piece of literature that is The Hidden and the Maiden; I would say if you are looking for a supernatural read that is unlike anything you have read… a read that will keep you entertained for hours on end as well as enthrall you then this exciting book is for you! Wow Aimee, Thank you so much for such a generous review. I’m so glad it met your five star standard, especially with how frank you were with me in your emails about there being no guaruntee of a good review. I was so excited to be approached with interest in my book (and as always a little nervous) but I’m honored to get this review. The time, straightforwardness, and effort are greatly appreciated. This is the capper to what has been a pleasure. Especially with, “Never before have I read a book that has a ton of action as well… Read more »
