RED HEADED BOOK LOVER

The Episode, Stan L. Abbott

A staggering 38 per cent of people in Europe are estimated to suffer some degree of mental illness or breakdown at some point during their lives. Adam Ant, Russell Brand, Alastair Campbell, Ray Davies, Stephen Fry, Paul Gascoigne, Bill Oddie and Catherine Zeta-Jones are just a few of those who have “come out” as sufferers of bipolar disorder.

That’s why The Episode is very much a novel of the Zeitgeist, telling as it does the intimate story of what the medical profession calls a manic episode. Statistics tell us that such episodes are likely to be repeated, leading to the classic symptoms of bipolar disorder, with its extremes of euphoria and depression, or the less extreme Bipolar II.

When a naïve Felix Merryweather finds himself unexpectedly reunited with a woman from his past he can’t imagine the bizarre chain of events that will follow, as he is drawn into the labyrinthine world of the reclusive entrepreneur, Lord Lindisfarne. It is a world born out of Lindisfarne’s, then just plain Victor Turnbull’s, descent into mania following a freak accident.

The Episode explores the boundaries between the real and the imagined; between the known and the unknown; between the possible and the improbable. It gives a rare first person insight into how it feels when an individual finds the intellectual certainties that define our daily lives crumbling all around him.

The Episode is a sensational book written by the exceptional and talented Stan L. Abbott and wow what a stellar story! The Episode is a book I was keen to read ever since discovering it. As the description alludes to a strong mental health theme and explores it in a way that informs but entertains so I was intrigued and excited to get started! I admit, my expectations going in where high, maybe too high! And I thought maybe they would not be exceeded, but now that I have finished The Episode, I can happily write that they were! And that is why The Episode is a novel that should be read and loved!

The Episode is a unique and brilliant tale that is fiction but laced with very real-life elements such as mental illness. The reader in The Episode will be taken on a journey that follows one man as he has an ‘episode’ which, can be described as a manic event, typically associated with bipolar disorder. The reader will follow this character on his descent caused by a strange set of events and what unfolds is shocking, but also entertaining and should not be missed!

The Episode is a thrilling novel thanks to the enthralling moments as well as the unpredictable nature of the book that will have the readers turning the pages with haste from beginning to end. I love books that involve a journey, and the reader has just this in The Episode as the reader is taken on a bizarre but brilliant journey from start to finish. What I loved most about The Episode is that the reader is taken on a thrilling journey that is continuously evolving and changing which in turn kept me hooked from beginning to end.

The Episode managed to entertain me for many hours on end thanks to the unique premise of the story as well as the excellent literature courtesy of Stan L. Abbott. Very rarely do I discover a book that captivates me as fast as The Episode has so the fact that I am so taken with this book shows you, readers, that this book indeed is incredible and not to be missed!

Stan L. Abbott is an incredibly talented author who clearly knows how to write unique but engaging stories. It was evident to me from the start that Abbott is a passionate writer who surely loves entertaining readers with his literature as well as sharing poignant messages about real-world issues. I adored this about The Episode and Abbott’s literature as that is rare to come across sometimes so thank you, Abbott, for writing an entertaining story while highlighting some very raw and sad topics that need to be tackled.
