Shadows and Black in the Light is an incredible tale that will introduce us to the protagonist of the tale, Millie, who, during a turbulent summer, embarks on a quest to uncover the truth about her father’s mysterious death and her mother’s long-standing psychosis.
The reader will follow Millie on this journey, and along the way, she encounters a stranger with a troubled past, leading her into a world where reality and illusion blur. As secrets unravel and danger looms, Millie must confront the mysteries of her family and her own beliefs and it makes for an atmospheric tale of love and loss and this book lovers is the short premise of the incredible Shadows and Black in the Light!
Shadows and Black in the Light is a stellar story that had me intrigued from the very start. I love any story with a blend of mystery and the paranormal, so I knew from the beginning that Shadows and Black in the Light would deliver thanks to these themes, and wow, did it! Shadows and Black in the Light captured my attention immediately thanks to the fast-paced story, enigmatic characters, and thrilling plot, and as I read Shadows and Black in the Light, I was honestly in awe; it was like a present was being unwrapped before my eyes, and the more the pages turned, the more excited I got for the finale!
Amy van Rijthoven is a newly discovered author of mine, and I have to confess, book lovers, that I am kicking myself for not having found van Rijthoven’s book sooner! I am frustrated that I have not before because it has been a long time since a paranormal book has captivated me this much! To write a good novel, the reader needs to be fully immersed in the story and feel as if they are experiencing the same events as the protagonist, and van Rijthoven manages to accomplish this with her writing in Shadows and Black in the Light, so van Rijthoven is most certainly worthy of an abundance of praise!
Not only is Amy van Rijthoven an outstanding writer for her ability to thrust her readers into the thick of the story, but she is also outstanding because she is able to describe all of the events that unravel perfectly! Every event and moment and even place is flawlessly described with a wealth of detail, which in turn keeps the reader turning the pages!
Overall Shadows and Black in the Light sends you into a tailspin of a journey packed full of exciting twists and turns that leave you both guessing and wanting more. Once you pick up Shadows and Black in the Light, you won’t be able to put it down…I know I couldn’t!
