RED HEADED BOOK LOVER

JB Chivvy, Author Spotlight

When Captain Jacob Baccus and his platoon are assigned to a Protective Services Detail, for scientists traveling into the heart of Baghdad at the beginning of the war in Iraq, it seems like just another routine job.

But their assignment, to secure the ancient body of King Nimrod and escort it to a secret base in Antarctica, leads Jacob and his men into a hellish nightmare.

In a place that is run by demon-like entities, whose sole purpose is to resurrect King Nimrod for their own vile agenda, Jacob learns that Evil has plans for him in the approaching Armageddon.

Barely surviving his assignment, Jacob is discharged from the army only to be almost immediately recruited by Jesuits with their own plans. And as the final war looms, Jacob must deal with the machinations of Evil as he tries desperately to thwart its plans for mankind.

But does he have what it takes to face the ultimate threat? Or is he simply caught in the midst of a battle between good and evil that he has no chance of winning?

I personally would recommend this book to all of those that love horror but really the book can be read by anybody as it is flawlessly written and highly enjoyable. With today’s author spotlight for JB Chivvy, a biography of the author and an interview between us both will be shared, and I hope that you book lovers enjoy reading it! To kick this off here is an author bio about the wonderful JB Chivvy!

JB Chivvy was born and raised on a farm near the city of Aberdeen, South Dakota. He attended Northern State University where he attained a BS in Accounting, a BS in Information Technologies and an MBA. He now lives in Janesville, Wisconsin with his wife, their children and 2 dogs.

Having worked in IT since 1994, JB has always had an eye on the evolution of technology. But inside himself he always knew there was a writer struggling to get out and make himself heard.

Throwing caution to the wind, he decided to write his first book and the result is The Darkside of Good, which is a supernatural thriller that pits good against evil as the battle of Armageddon approaches.

In his spare time, JB participates in Brazilian Jujitsu and submission wrestling. He also enjoys outdoor sports like kayaking, rock climbing and zip lining, but when he is feeling creative he loves nothing better than working with a piece of wood and making something unique.

Being new to the world of writing, JB is interested to see where it will lead him in the future. The opportunity to entertain readers with his imagination is an intriguing prospect and he hopes that enough people will like his work to inspire him to write and entertain more.

Now, how wonderful does JB Chivvy sound?! The author is a truly exceptional writer and I hope that you lovely readers have a read of the author’s work because you will not regret it! Please see below an interview between us both, I hope that you enjoy the author’s answers to my questions, they are incredible and provide some great advice too!

Thank you for joining us today at Red Headed Book Lover! Please tell us more about yourself.

I appreciate the opportunity to speak with you today. I am just your friendly neighborhood IT guy who has a desire to write stories that are fast paced and entertaining. This started out as just a bucket list type of endeavor, but the more I write, the more obsessed I become with it. My main desire is to just entertain people with my strange imagination.

Could you please tell us readers about your book and what inspired you to write your book?

I watch these horrible events that take place all over the world and wanted a better explanation than just evil exists. Unable to find the answer I was looking for, I decided to create a universe where every event has meaning, it is a part of a bigger plan to ruin humanity. I love to read conspiracy theories, so I took as many as I could and developed this series, taking some of the most horrific crimes against society and turning them into a true battle between good and evil.

What would your advice be for aspiring writers?

Start by writing a few hundred words a day and build from there.  Set a lofty goal of so many words a day (2000) and see where your writing leads you.  Good, bad, or otherwise, just practice writing the stories in your head down. Since I am also an aspiring writer, that is what has worked for me so far.

In your opinion, what is the most important thing about a book?

The storyline has to be nailed.  You can mess up just about anything else, but the storyline must be solid.

What is your writing process like?

I am more of a diagramming gardner. I set up the path for each book, then start writing according to my outline, then the story takes over, and things just seem to happen. The problem is by the time I get to the 3rd or 4th chapter, I have to stop and rewrite my diagram because some event happens that changes the entire story.  That is the best way I can describe it.

What kind of research do you do, and how long do you spend researching before beginning a book?

I look to historical books for subtle facts that I can place in the book to make it seem a little more like reality.  I research for about 4 weeks before starting the first draft, but the research continues during the writing process to ensure I did not miss something that would be relevant to my story.  It is pretty easy since I write fiction, if I don’t like the history, I modify it ever so slightly to accommodate the storyline.

Do you have a set schedule for writing, or do you only write when you feel inspired?

I am writing all the time, I either jot on my phone, dictate while I am driving, or write later in the evening when I am alone. I have not reached a point where I am not inspired to write.

Do you read much and if so who are your favorite authors?

I like the big names, King, Patterson, Koontz, and so one, but in the last couple of years I have paid more attention to the indie authors in my genre. There are some very creative and talented people out there. I have been reading Mark Goodwin’s books lately.

Lastly, when can we readers expect to read more wonderful books from you?

I have 12 books planned for The Darkside of Good series and 5 more books planned for a small spinoff story that works its way back into the main series.  My goal is to release a new book every 3-4 months.  After that, I just plan to write some more. The next book is scheduled to come out late January of 2019.
