Thank you for joining us today at Red Headed Book Lover! Please tell us more about yourself
My name is Isa, I am the author of A Coffee with Archangels which is my first book. I am 38 years old, French and currently living in London. In life I coach people in order to help them develop their potential and achieve their life goals.
Could you please tell us readers about your book and what inspired you to write your book?
A Coffee with Archangels is a self-help and spirituality book. Since childhood I have had mediumistic abilities and the ability to see the invisible. I spend my life between two worlds, my daily environment and the challenges and teachings of light placed on my path to evolve. For a long time, I had a very bad experience of my mediumnity and I tried to understand it by taking an interest in spirituality. Unfortunately, the known and imposed spiritual codes and practices reinforced my duality and the idea that I was not a good person.
A Coffee with Archangels is a story of life and rebirth. I tell the story of my journey and the shadows I had to face to start seeing the light when God decided to send Michael, Gabriel, Raphael and Uriel into my life who taught me the Light Coaching that I share in the book.
Precisely, in your book you denounce certain spiritual clichés…
You know, I am unfiltered and I totally assume my words and my actions. I don’t blame anyone, I just make observations! We live in a world in perpetual change. Everything goes too fast, competition is omnipresent and people sometimes have difficulty finding their right place. Spirituality is an alternative to find answers that nobody can give us. What I deplore is the “superhero” side of this milieu where certain voices impose established rules. For example, to be a good spiritual practitioner you have to be pure, centered, open or positive… in my opinion these are unnecessary folklores and pressures, one more mask that is added to the social personality. For example, many people have strong spiritual experiences and they don’t always dare to talk about them or reject them because they don’t fit in the mold. This is a pity because these moments of awakening are the most important in my opinion.
It would be possible to think that A Coffee with Archangels is just another spiritual teaching, how is the Archangels’ light coaching different from other self-help books?
It encourages us to fully accept our human side! Classical spirituality tends to overemphasize the “good”, Light Coaching starts from the premise that the “good” is a natural programming of each individual. Flaws and bad aspects of the personality are not a bad thing, they do not hinder the process of change. This is where the method differs, learning to see life’s obstacles differently because they are not handicaps to success, they are strengths. Besides, in the book I tell how the Archangels came to me and I confide without shame my “mistakes” of course. I do not place myself in a position of superiority in front of my reader because nobody is perfect! To change I had to accept my dramas and the demons that kept me company for a long time, if they had not been in my life I would not be where I am now!
The light coaching that I share in the book is a message of love for the one who discovers it. It is a method that everyone can adapt according to their beliefs and experiences, practicing it is an act of love for oneself, it is choosing to say “I am not ashamed of who I am!”
Talent, light, beauty, abundance or love have no limitations, origins or social status, everyone can shine because everyone has incredible abilities.
Do you really think anyone can be successful?
Absolutely! I believe that what prevents people from succeeding is a permanent state of guilt about not being or never doing enough. Who can judge, who can decide that? That’s the message I’m trying to get across in my book! That being yourself and taking a step back is a great starting point for setting honest, ego-free goals.
I didn’t just write a book that gives advice without first applying it myself. I hate hypocrisy and for me that would be a betrayal to my readers. I went through each step of the light coaching with the help of my friends the Archangels and today I am still learning a lot about myself, the realizations are coming without me realizing it because I have learned to listen to myself and stop being afraid. Today I can say loud and clear and with certainty to all those who doubt themselves: “Stop giving credibility to fools and never deny what you are because you are the best gift that life can give you!
Of course I will be answered “yes, but I miss this or that…”. No, you are not missing anything, at the moment you are in gestation but when you will be reborn your light will be blinding so be victorious and never doubt it.
How do you see yourself as a woman?
That’s a good question 🙂 I used to be withdrawn and unsure of myself, in society I never dared to speak for example. I lived all the time in fear that people would think badly of me, that they would make fun of me, that they would find me stupid or ugly… The day I decided to give up because I understood that I couldn’t control the opinion of others, I started to live, really… Being a woman requires commitment and investment in order to give a beautiful moral or physical image… Forgive me for using the term, but I threw everything away in order to concentrate on what really made me feel good. I am a simple person so I live spontaneously, without social constraints. I go forward with my head held high and I am amazed by everything, I proudly affirm my tastes, my freedom, my choices… When I reflect, I take my place a little more each day, it is done naturally in the respect of my values and my personal resonance. I realize that this is not complicated, everything is done through detachment.
And as an author, how do you see yourself?
Believe me, I am not a model author! For me, writing should not be a stressful time but a calming one. The writing process can be intense so I don’t focus solely on producing as many books as possible. It’s a passion above all, to be productive I can go days or weeks without writing, taking time off before starting a new inspiring journey. I never put pressure on myself, I stay cool in all circumstances 🙂
What would your advice be for aspiring writers?
Don’t be afraid to tell your story and never compare yourself to others! Your creativity is unique and belongs only to you, so don’t let rejection or obstacles discourage you. Wear your creation proudly, believe in it with all your heart and it will find its audience.
In your opinion, what is the most important thing about a book?
Its soul, its essence! For me the most beautiful books are not those that are the best written, a technically perfect book drowns in the mass. Whereas a book that seems to be an outsider will turn out to be strong and take its reader very far in the emotion. I’ll quote you a popular expression that perfectly sums up what I’m trying to say “you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover”
What is your writing process like?
It all starts with ideas and inspirations. I take a lot of notes that I put in a notebook or on my phone, then I leave them completely aside to focus on something else. I always take my time because writing is a personal investment so I don’t act in a hurry. When the time is right, I read over all my notes and keep only what I am drawn to. You should know that I never write in order, I build my chapters according to the inspiration. I have great moments of pause when I write, if I sit down in front of my computer and nothing comes to me I don’t insist. I never force myself to write for the sake of writing because I like to feel connected to my heart in those moments. Setting a work schedule with a number of words per day freaks me out, I love it when my writing sessions are intense and I feel like I’ve given it my all. Love, passion and inspiration are the key words in my writing process.
What kind of research do you do, and how long do you spend researching before beginning a book?
For A Coffee with Archangels I already had the basis of my story because it is my life as I lived it. I think the research started a long time ago without me knowing it, the soul of my book is my personal experiences and my learning during the light coaching. The idea to write it came from my dear Archangel Gabriel, and when he suggested me to do it during the exercise of “The Divine Mission” I answered him “are you serious?” and I saw that he was not kidding… When I started to work, the complete writing of the book and the translation in English took me 1 year.
Now I have three more books in the works and I’m not doing any particular research. The ideas and topics are in my notebook, I know what I want to say and how I want to say it, they will be very different heartfelt books from A Coffee with Archangels so I am quietly preparing to make them lively, beautiful, despite the fact that their story is sad and dramatic.
Do you read much and if so who are your favorite authors?
Ever since I was a kid I have always loved to read. I wasn’t a very popular person at school, I was often all alone. When everyone else was hanging out, I was avoided, so I had to work around the sadness of not fitting in. Books have always been there for me, they were my friends, my comfort… Among my favorite authors there is Stephen King whose books supported me a lot during my adolescence. I am a great admirer of Emile Zola and his incisive look at the human race. After that, it would be difficult for me to give you all the authors I have loved and I have a hard time deciding who I prefer.
A book always takes me where I need to go, that’s what I like about reading. Besides, I love buying used books, browsing the shelves and spending hours looking at those books that people don’t want anymore… I love the idea of reviving a story that people don’t care about, I feel like I find a treasure every time…
When you are not writing, what are your passions?
I love vintage clothing so I recently took up sewing. It’s creative and technical at the same time and it stimulates me to make the ideas I have in my head real. What I love about vintage is wearing unique pieces that have history and character. Sewing was a must, I absolutely wanted to learn how to patch, repair, customize, resize… Bringing a garment back to life is great, I have a fascination for the 80’s, the cuts and colors of that era. I have a great admiration for the creations of Margaretha Ley for Escada, Gianni Versace for Genny, Louis Ferraud, Saint-Laurent… through their clothes I find this little grain of madness that I like in fashion and the refinement of beautiful materials that last in time.
Sewing has taught me to know myself and to love my figure, I no longer have the problem of ill-fitting clothes in the sense that I adapt them to my body.
I cook a lot, it’s a passion that comes from my mother who is a real cordon bleu. Food is a transmission, meals are moments of conviviality, all barriers fall when we are around a good table. When I lived in Paris I was lucky enough to live in a multi-cultural neighborhood where I could eat African, Asian, Indian, Greek, Turkish… what’s magical about cooking is that it makes you curious, open, I love going to places where people know how to do things and are proud to pass on their heritage and know-how.
I play a lot of video games too, I’m from the generation that knew the golden age of Sega and Nintendo so I have an unconditional love for old school platform games. I’m a big fan of the classic Sonic games for example. Currently on my PS5 I’m rediscovering Crash Bandicoot, pure try and die platformer where you have to start over countless times before mastering the game. It’s sometimes difficult but I’m having fun
Before I finish, what advice would you give to someone who wants to change their life?
Read my book!
Joking aside, I’ll give you a concrete example. In one of my divination oracles there is a card called “forgetfulness”. In the illustration of this card you can see an old pair of shoes that looks worn and gathering dust in the back of a closet. At the top of the card you can see a beam of light. This is a strong symbol because the pair of shoes doesn’t have to stay hidden, it can still go a long way if we know how to recognize its potential and interest it in its new life. The change starts with the interest, the love and the respect that you have for yourself, don’t reject your life, sublime it! Don’t bury what you feel ashamed of, honor your failures and sufferings because the light is always above you! Take your shoes out of the closet, dust them off and get back on the road because it will hold beautiful surprises for you! To free yourself, to free things, others, to move forward in joy for me is the key to change, life will bring you the best 🙂
Lastly, when can we readers expect to read more wonderful books from you?
I have three books in the works, but my journey with A Coffee with Archangels is not over yet. I’m giving myself time to mature and I’m giving the book time to make its way, the rest of the story will be written when the time comes…
