Not only is Alana Best incredible for writing her book and sharing her story, but she also is for the beautiful literature laced throughout her travel memoir. Travel memoirs, in my opinion, only work if the author in question is descriptive, honest, and can transport the reader effortlessly from place to place, and Alana Best most certainly accomplished this with Around the World in Black and White. Alana Best wrote her story perfectly, describing all the places she visited, so the reader felt as if they were there right beside her and her family on their travels, and it made for an incredible reading experience.
Overall, Around the World in Black and White is an incredible, captivating, and poignant travel memoir with meaningful messages and lessons laced throughout, and that is why I have to award Around the World in Black and White five stars!
