They live in a secure mansion hidden in the mountains, never short on money or any luxuries they desire.

Until they discover that the government has been secretly experimenting on working class neighborhoods with the intention of developing mind-control drugs. Their failed attempts slaughter innocents all over the country with no warning or pattern.

Welcome to the Damned is a thrilling, captivating, and brilliant story that will take its readers on a journey full of twists and turns galore! The reader in Welcome to the Damned will be introduced to a city like no other – Dyvris, a city plagued with corruption and one that is run by criminals that take refuge in the mountains and a city that people will do anything to escape from. The reader will be introduced to The Scavenger, a notorious criminal who those without money are forced to turn to so they have a safe place to stay in exchange for any information he requires and The Scavenger and his associates have benefited handsomely from this. Overseeing all that happens within the city while they live securely in their mansion in the mountains with everything they could want and more. However when they discover the government has been experimenting on the working class, and that these experiments could make its way to the mountains, their world changes forever, and what follows is a shocking and unforgettable tale that shouldn’t be missed!

Science fiction novels in general are difficult to write because you have to transport the reader quickly and effortlessly, but sadly this is rarely accomplished in a sci-fi story but not with Welcome to the Damned! Welcome to the Damned is the way it is because Astraea Long knows what she is doing! Long knows how to whisk her readers away and entice them with magnificent descriptions and keep readers entertained from start to finish!

The story of Welcome to the Damned is brilliant, and I adored the journey the wonderful author took me on. Astraea Long has managed to incorporate many unexpected twists effortlessly so that the readers will turn the page with haste! As I read this book, I found myself re-reading parts because of how shocking it was! It was magnificent to feel this, and I love it when an author does this to a reader, this is how reading should be! Full of shocks and surprises and great thrilling moments that you will remember for a long time!

Astraea Long is a talented author; there is no question about this. Long’s writing keeps the reader on the edge of their seat; her suspense-filled book reminds me of a thrilling movie; there is a constant feeling of trepidation and a continuous sense of “what is going to happen next?!” as I read this book. I was enthralled because this is how sci-fi and action-packed books should be! So truly book lovers, this book needs to be read and loved!

To conclude my thoughts on this exceptional story, I would say if you have been bored of late of books that well, don’t thrill you, then take a chance with this one because it is an all-consuming assault of brilliance that will keep you entertained from the beginning to end! Welcome to the Damned gets five stars from me!
