RED HEADED BOOK LOVER

The Thin Blue Li(n)E, Brian Cook

The Thin Blue Li(n)e picks up the saga of the Office of the Sheriff where Hands Across The Sea left off.

As the real talk grows contentious, the characters and storylines square off against puppeteers trying to pull the strings. While Sheriff Brendan Callaghan and Undersheriff H. Maxwell Ulrich dig deeper at the crux of the Union’s complaint, the needs of the Agency must balance the political muscle of the Board of Supervisors and the bureaucratic clout of the Vasco city officials.

Retired Captain Asa Belle not only pushes the envelope, but starts opening the ones sent from convicted killer, Daniel Bouchette. Will he confront his demon, or resist him?

Witness Sheriff Emeritus Garrison Cottrell’s spiral descent from Creutzfeldt-Jacob Disease. The more the condition takes control of his state of mind, the more shocking secrets begin to be revealed that will sure to have ramifications countywide.

The truth is getting closer for Vikki Morgan to discover who left her mother for dead years ago, and what will prove to be worse: the person behind it or the cover-up.

The Thin Blue Li(n)e will test the Blue Wall of Silence across interpersonal and professional landscapes. Will the lines get crossed or will the lies finally catch up?

A short while ago I read and reviewed a book titled Hands Across The Sea which is written by the superb Brian Cook. Brian Cook left the story of Hands Across The Sea open and that is why Cook has written a sequel titled, The Thin Blue Li(n)E and gosh was this book great! There is a common theory amongst many book lovers that sequels do not live up to the expectations of the first book and the sad truth is that this is mostly always true. However! In some circumstances, the sequel can be just as good if not better than the first and this is how I feel about The Thin Blue Li(n)E. The Thin Blue Li(n)E was everything I wanted it to be and so much more, Brian Cook most certainly delivered an intriguing, gripping, compelling sequel and so I would have to recommend that you lovely readers read book one and two of this magnificent series as you will not regret it!

The Thin Blue Li(n)E takes off right where Hands Across The Sea finished and once again reunites the reader with the protagonist of the first story, Sheriff Brendan Callaghan and I admit, I was excited to be reunited with him as well as the other characters I had grown to love in the first book. The Thin Blue Lin(n)E just like Hands Across The Sea is a multi-layered novel with many intriguing plots and fascinating characters. The reader will meet many characters such as Captain Asa Belle, Sheriff Emeritus Garrison and Vikki Morgan who are all core characters in a compelling plot. I am cautious to spoil the plot of this book as it is a sequel but rest assured book lovers that it has plenty of juicy, entertaining moments that will thrill and excite those that love detective/police dramas and a look into a usually private world!

What I truly adore about The Thin Blue Lin(n)E and its stunning literature is that so much law enforcement’s facts and hidden truths are laced throughout the book; I adore this because it adds an extra layer or excellence to the story and makes the reader become most invested due to its fascinating subject matter and the reader has the wonderful Brian Cook to thank for this.

Brian Cook has managed to do it again, he has managed to expand on an already brilliant plot and evolve his characters, as well as introducing more twists and turns for his readers to ensure that they will never once be bored. As I read The Thin Blue Lin(n)E I never once got bored because I never had a moment to breathe! The book was so fast-paced and exhilarating that I felt like I had to read super fast to keep up, I was reading in a frenzy because the text was so deliciously good! That is why Cook is such a fantastic writer because he manages to excite his readers as well as make sure they are never tempted to put the book down. Cook strikes me as an author who is invested in the reader’s experience, I believe this because he is always managing to introduce new themes and or characters to keep the novel vibrant and running smoothly.

The Thin Blue Lin(n)E is a brilliant, sensational book and so I have no choice but to award this stunning piece of fiction, just like Hands Across the Sea five stars! I could only award this book this as it truly is an entertaining piece of literature that had me reading with ease. If you are a reader who is looking for a great police drama then these two books are for you!
