Young witchlin Filly Tucker has a problem. In order to earn her wand, she must master her basic spells before her tenth birthday. In a cozy cottage where she lives with her Grandmaa famous witch extraordinaireand her ornery magic cat, Tabasco, Filly struggles to get even the simplest spell right.
One afternoon, as Filly arrives home from rolling down grassy hills with her friends, she discovers a large cardboard box outside her front doorwaiting to transport her to the home of the terrible Twissle twins, known for their unruly, madcap lifestyle and obnoxious spells. As the Twissle twins rely on their horrid personalities and crazy tricks to create green meatballs, coax a dozen Canadian geese to soar around the chandelier, and convince a cat who thinks he is a cowboy to ride around the room on the back of a flying Dalmatian dog, Filly realizes she should have paid better attention while learning her spells.

The Trouble with Filly Tucker is an incredibly exciting and wonderful middle-grade fantasy book that I will struggle to forget for a long time! The Trouble with Filly Tucker has astounded me; I enjoyed every single moment of the book because it was by far a perfect read for young readers. The wonderful author of the novel Mary Barr is a true literary talent because the author managed to captivate and enthrall from the very beginning! A part of me was always going to love this book because I love fantasy but even if I did not, I would still love this book because it has adventure and plenty of heart and fantastic writing that will keep the reader happy in bliss! That is why I already recommend this book to you, lovely readers, however, if you need more convincing then continue to read to learn more!
The Trouble with Filly Tucker is a captivating, inspiring, and memorable fantasy tale that will take its readers on a journey like no other! The reader in The Trouble with Filly Tucker will be introduced to the young protagonist and star of the novel, Filly Tucker, a young witchlin who is struggling to master even basic spells but must do so before her tenth birthday in order to earn her wand. However Filly struggles, and even living with her incredible Grandma doesn’t seem to help and it is only when she is confronted with undoing another witch’s mess, that she tries to master her spells and earn her wand. The reader will follow Filly as she meets the Twissle twins, who use their terrible personalities to perform tricks, and this inspires Filly to make things right. The reader will follow Filly on her journey as she tries to earn her wand and what follows is a beautiful and incredible story that shouldn’t be missed!
The story of The Trouble with Filly Tucker is a sensational one because it encompasses everything good about literature. It has a brave plot, a loveable protagonist, and an incredibly well-thought-out story that will keep the reader wanting to read with haste!
Mary Barr, the author of this brilliant novel does an incredible job of piecing together her story with exciting and poignant moments and seamlessly integrates themes into one book of intrigue. Barr is a phenomenal writer because the author is dedicated to her work as well as passionate. Barr’s passion for the written word shines off the page and into the reader’s mind and her beautiful descriptions and fun moments will send the reader’s mind into visual overdrive, the reader will be able to perfectly imagine every detail the reader comes across and that in my opinion, is a sign of a talented author!
To conclude my thoughts on the brilliant piece of literature that is The Trouble with Filly Tucker; I would say if you are looking for a fantasy read that is unlike anything you have read… a read that will keep you entertained for hours on end as well as enthrall you then this incredible book is for you!
