The story of The Man on the Bench is brilliant, and I adored the journey the wonderful author took me on. Hy Conrad managed to incorporate many unexpected twists effortlessly so that the readers will turn the page with haste! As I read this book, I found myself re-reading parts because of how shocking it was! It was magnificent to feel this, and I love it when an author does this to a reader; this is how reading should be! Full of shocks and surprises and great thrilling moments that you will remember for a long time, if not forever!
Hy Conrad is a brilliant writer who has written a fantastic story and come up with a brilliant plot. Conrad from the very start sets the tone of the novel; he lets his readers know that this is going to be a dark and atmospheric book, thanks to his literature and wow was it! Conrad is exceptional because he grabs his readers’ attention from the start very quickly and keeps them engrossed until the end. There are no long build-ups that drag in The Man on the Bench; instead, the reader will be thrown into the thick of the story quickly, and the result of this is exciting (and slightly terrifying!).
Hy Conrad is a talented author; there is no question about this. Conrad’s writing keeps the reader on the edge of their seat; his suspense-filled book reminds me of a good mystery thriller movie; there is a constant feeling of trepidation and a continuous sense of “what is going to happen next?!” as I read this book. I was enthralled because this is how thriller, mystery and suspense books should be!
To conclude my thoughts on this exceptional story, I would say if you have been bored with books that don’t thrill you, then take a chance with this one because it is an all-consuming assault of brilliance that will keep you entertained from the beginning to end! The Man on the Bench gets five stars from me! So be sure to have a read of the book, you won’t regret it!
