A unit of the Seventh Cavalry is on a mission over Afghanistan when their plane is hit.
Sergeant James Alexander, Private Kady Sharakova, Private Charley Kawalski, PFC Autumn Eaglemoon, PFC Sparks Campbell, and nine other soldiers bail out of the burning plane.
When they hit the ground, they are not in Afghanistan. Not only are they four thousand miles from their original destination but it appears they have descended two thousand years into the past where primitive forces fight each other with swords and arrows.
The platoon is thrown into a battle where they must choose sides quickly or die. They are swept along in a tide of events so powerful that their courage, ingenuity and weapons are tested to the limits of their durability and strength.
The four women in the unit are trained soldiers, skilled in the art of combat, but they are not prepared for the brutal reality of war. They are more than capable of fighting alongside the men, and, at times, defending the others in close quarters fighting. But when the battle is won, they must come to grips with their destruction of life.
The Seventh is forced to join Hannibal’s army and fight his battles, at least until they can find their way home. However, as their journey takes them over the Alps and down the length of Italy, friendship and even romance begins to form between these hardened soldiers from past and present. Powerful bonds that reshape each soldier’s hopes and dreams for the future.
The Last Mission of the Seventh Cavalry is one of the most brilliant dystopian science fiction novels that I have ever had the pleasure of reading. The Last Mission of the Seventh Cavalry is a breathtaking novel that will take its readers on a journey of adventure and action and what the reader encounters along the way is truly shocking as well as thrilling! The reader will be introduced to the Seventh Cavalry unit who, at the beginning of the novel, are on a mission in Afghanistan when their plane is hit and crash. The story of The Last Mission of the Seventh Cavalry captivated me from the first page thanks to the books sharp literature and strong opening. The reader thanks to the exceptional author Charley Brindley will be thrust into the action early on thanks to Brindley’s fast-paced narrative. The fast-paced narrative combined with the extraordinary story had me in a frenzy and turning the pages with haste, and when a reader does this, then they know that the book is excellent and worthy of a recommendation! Charley Brindley is not only a phenomenal writer for his flawless ability to capture his reader’s attention, but he is also a great writer for his descriptive powers and characterization of characters which will hook his readers!
The premise of The Last Mission of the Seventh Cavalry is exceptional, original, and unlike anything, I have read before. Brindley really has accomplished the near impossible, Brindley has managed to write an entertaining, bewitching, and flawless story that will perfectly unfold in readers minds like a movie.
Charley Brindley is a phenomenal writer who knows how to grasp his reader’s attention from the first page. Brindley instead of writing long, drawn-out builds up which are commonly found in science fiction novels, decides to ditch this approach and thrust his reader into the heart of the story straight away so that the reader is instantly captivated and immersed. I personally love this approach, what is the point of having a long build-up with little excitement? This is only necessary if the author in question can’t develop the characters in the story quickly, but with Brindley, the reader will not encounter this issue because Brindley instantly develops his characters and makes the reader invest in not only them but also their journey.
Overall The Last Mission of the Seventh Cavalry is a sensational, thrilling as well as chilling story that will provoke your thoughts as well as entertain you and so I have no choice but to award this stellar read five stars. If you are a reader who loves science fiction novels and thrillers, then this book is for you, so do not miss out on the chance of reading it!
