RED HEADED BOOK LOVER

The Kid With Broken Glasses, Walter Manuel

Proceeds go to children’s charities: This true, first-person memoir of a boy’s perseverance in the face of family dysfunction and adversity in the Montreal area of the 1960s and early ’70s offers a harrowing look inside a child’s soul-crushing loss of innocence between the ages of 4 and 16. Wawa, one of seven children born to an alcoholic father and clinically depressed mother, refuses offers to fix his broken glasses, wearing them as an outward statement of his heartbreakingly broken life. His hunger for love and guidance and his will to survive to adulthood in the face of fear, loneliness, anxiety, hardship and poverty will have readers cheering him on. This is an account that resonates with the lives of thousands of abused and neglected children who remain invisible. Wawa is the voice of the silent ones.

About the Author: A world traveller, amateur photographer and author, Walter Manuel comes from a diverse background of experiences that have led him to write this book.
You can’t make this up: Walter’s house got hit by lightning in June 2017. That day, he knew his life had changed and he made a decision to retire from an aspiring career in Real Estate.
Always wanting to write about his traumatic childhood and to be able to give back to the silent ones, Walter decided to right his debut novel as a memoir., a book about feelings. A fascinating, heartbreaking and harrowing book written in the first-person about the growing-up experiences of a child who suffers much neglect and abuse.
As he was writing his memoir the two homes that are in the book, burned to the ground erasing part of Walter’s physical past.

The Kid With Broken Glasses is a unique, first-person told memoir courtesy of Walter Manuel who will captivate and move you from start to finish. The Kid With Broken Glasses is a moving, poignant and inspiring memoir and Walter throughout his book narrates the story of his youth in the first person and what the readers read is eye-opening as well as incredibly moving.

The journey the reader is taken on is an emotional, sometimes upsetting but inspiring one that will move and touch its readers from start to finish. The Kid With Broken Glasses is a unique book because it is a memoir that is written in the first person. This is rare to find and even more so for a book of such a hard-hitting nature so this is just one of the many readers why The Kid With Broken Glasses should not be missed!

In The Kid With Broken Glasses, Walter Manuel will take you through a journey of his youth and all that he encountered along the way. The reader will be taken back to the 60’s/70’s to Montreal and will follow Walter from the ages of 4 to 16. Walter will share his family history, being one of seven children whose father was an alcoholic and mother depressed. Walter experienced many hardships no child should ever experience and he is honest about all that he encountered. This will not only help people that have experienced similar situations feel better knowing they aren’t alone, but it also provides readers with the hard-hitting truth about what happens to many children and why it needs to be combated. That is actually one of the readers why Walter wrote his book, as he wanted to create awareness and he also donates all proceeds from his book to children charities so it is an incredible book supporting worthy and important causes.

Walter Manuel’s story is one of the most hard-hitting but inspirational stories I have ever read or even heard of. Walter encountered so many hardships but the fact that he was able to overcome this and now help other people is truly inspirational. Because despite this book being of a hard-hitting nature, the primary feeling associated with this book is inspiration as Walter’s courage and determination to pursue success and overcome his circumstances is truly beautiful.

Walter Manuel is an incredible man for many reasons, but one of the reasons he is so wonderful is because he brazenly shares his story to help readers and to speak his truth. I adore how Walter did not hold back on the details of hardships, he poignantly writes about all the hardships he has endured, and it makes for profound reading. The reader won’t be able to not admire Walter for all that he has been through and all that he has accomplished.

To conclude my thoughts on the incredible The Kid With Broken Glasses, I would say The Kid With Broken Glasses is an incredibly inspirational, moving, and honest tale. It takes a lot for a person to be so honest and to tell their tale so I admire Walter for doing just this and sharing his tale in the hope that he can help others and raise money for children’s charities at the same time. As The Kid With Broken Glasses is an incredible memoir, I have no choice but to award this incredible book a dazzling five stars as it truly deserves it!
