RED HEADED BOOK LOVER

The Gables, Aaron Clayton

Take a moment and picture a life that is likely quite different than the one you currently live.

Imagine you were sent to prison, for the rest of your life, for killing six people (Seven, actually, but no one has connected you to the seventh… that you know of). Your wife, whom you still love, left you because you are a murderer. Also, she is the reason you are in prison, because she turned you in. Now the only one who comes to see you in prison, which is the only family you have left, is your brother.

And the ghosts. Ghosts are real… You know that now.

Quite often, the ghosts of those you killed come visit you in your prison cell at night. Some stand inside your cell and look at you, without saying a word, while one of them has tried, on more than one occasion to end your life, but hasn’t succeeded.

Yet.

Regardless, you know the time is coming, soon, when they will all come together to seek their revenge.

You’ve spent five years in prison but need to escape before it’s too late. You have a plan. There is a large stash of money hidden in a storage unit, taken from one of the people you killed. With this money, and your perfect plan to escape, you can start a new life and hopefully find a place where the ghosts won’t continue to haunt you.

You are able to successfully escape from prison, and with a reluctant agreement from your brother you have plans to meet him with the money. All that stands between you and freedom; freedom from prison and hopefully from those you killed, is roughly sixty miles. You have to make it past the northern desert of New Mexico and across the border of Colorado to a small town called Trinidad, where a now abandoned, and haunted, family ranch known as The Gables has stood empty for nearly one-hundred years.

Once you arrive, you soon discover you’re not alone. The ghosts haunting The Gables, as well as the ghosts of those you killed, are waiting, and you soon find they have no intention of letting you leave The Gables alive. The police and sheriff’s departments are closing in on you, and with very little time to spare you anxiously wait for your brother to arrive.

After waiting hours, your brother arrives and the only thing that stands between you and your hopeful freedom is getting through the old, decrepit stables located at The Gables, and the ghosts.

This journey may be the longest of your life, and you may not want to find out what lies and the end of The Gables.
