Welcome to a world like no other!
Philip is a good boy, a really good boy, who accidentally gets sent to Hell to become the Devil’s heir. The Devil, Lucifer, is dying and desperately in need of a successor, but there’s been a mistake and Philip is the wrong boy.
Lucifer has no other choice than to begin the difficult task of training Philip in the ways of evil. Philip is terrible at being bad, but when he falls in love with the she-devil Satina and experiences the powerful forces of love and jealousy, the task becomes much easier.
Philip finds both friends and enemies in this odd, gloomy underworld–but who can he trust, when he discovers an evil-minded plot against the dark throne?
The Devil’s Apprentice is a dramatic fantasy novel written by the fantastic author Kenneth B. Anderson and wow, what a brilliant start to a series! The Devil’s Apprentice is book one in a three-part series called The Great Devil War, and I have to confess book lovers that I fell in love with this book before I even started reading it thanks to the glorious descriptions that allude to a unique plot, unlike anything I have read before. If you readers know anything about me by now then you will know that I love adventures and I also love when I get to follow one character on their journey, and The Devil’s Apprentice definitely weaves these two attributes.
The Devil’s Apprentice is a sensational novel that will take the reader to hell, but before we do, I have to give you a little backstory. The Devil, Lucifer is looking for a successor as he is dying and he chooses Philip. However, he soon learns that Philip was the wrong choice and is actually very kind. So this means that the Devil will have to train Philip in the ways of evil which is proving to be challenging for him! But when Philip meets the beautiful but seductive Satina, the she-devil, his darker side comes out, and this book lovers is the premise of the incredible The Devil’s Apprentice!
The story of The Devil’s Apprentice is an incredible one that is guaranteed to keep readers entertained for many reasons, but one of the core reasons is because the plot is thrilling as well as unpredictable! The unpredictable nature of the story honestly kept me on edge; as the novel unfolds, the reader will learn new truths, and some of these will be very shocking. The reader will think things such as “no way, that cant be!” and “really?!” This is precisely what I felt while reading The Devil’s Apprentice and let me tell you now book lovers that it made for a genuinely entertaining story… one that should not be missed!
Kenneth B. Anderson is the author of The Great Devil War series, and it was clear to me from the description of The Devil’s Apprentice alone that Anderson has a real passion for fantasy and when I started reading the book I knew he had a talent for writing fantasy also. I believe that Anderson is the perfect author to write fantasy because what I learned from his literature is that he is a visual writer who likes to describe his scenes in details and be vibrant with the details and descriptions. The detailed narrative and descriptive literature in the novel lit my mind with amazement; I would read some of the descriptions and find myself re-reading the sentence once more because it was too good not to! That is one of the main attributes I love about Anderson’s literature, but I also adore his superb characterization of Philip. The protagonist of the story always has to be well developed because they are the vessel but sadly, I have read many books that have weak protagonists but not Philip! No, Anderson ensures that his star of the novel is a well-developed character with plenty of backstory to pull readers in and keep them captivated until the very end.
As The Devil’s Apprentice is a sensational, thrilling and highly addictive novel, I, of course, have to award the first book in The Great Devil War series a dazzling five stars!
