Sara is a bossy cat who likes to get her way. Her best friend, Sam, is a cuddly older bunny with spotted fur and wise advice. One day they find a shiny red ball stuck between their pantry wall and sagging floor. They can’t get it unstuck no matter how hard they try.
When Sara and Sam’s human, Meg, retrieves the toy for them, they spend many joyous moments playing with it. But now Meg is interested in the ball too! There’s something inside it—something she thinks another human might want.

Now that I have finished Sam, Sara, and the Red Ball I can honestly write that I haven’t been this captivated by a middle-grade read in a long time and this is thanks to the sensational author Jenifer Ratliff! That is why I already have to recommend this novel to you lovely readers, however, if you need more convincing then continue to read to learn more about Sam, Sara, and the Red Ball!
Sam, Sara, and the Red Ball is a captivating and memorable tale that will take readers on a beautiful journey from beginning to end! The reader in Sam, Sara, and the Red Ball will meet the stars of the book, a cat called Sara, and her best friend Sam, a bunny who loves spending their days playing games and exploring their home. One day this exploration leads them to find a shiny red ball, stuck in the pantry which is just out of reach… that is until their human Meg retrieves it for them! Sara and Sam love this ball but Meg soon finds herself interested in it too and its history and so our story begins. The trio embarks on a journey to find out the origin and history of this ball and what it contains inside and it makes for an incredibly entertaining journey that shouldn’t be missed!
Sam, Sara, and the Red Ball is an excellent, well-developed story thanks to the author Jenifer Ratliff. Ratliff manages to magnificently develop her world with immaculate detail and the result is an absorbing read that is unforgettable as well as captivating!
Jenifer Ratliff is an incredible writer who flawlessly writes her fantastic journey and takes her readers on an engaging journey that makes the reader feel included. Ratliff’s faultless writing combined with her intriguing characterization of characters makes Sam, Sara, and the Red Ball a stellar read that will keep you hooked until the very end! Ratliff ensures that readers are entertained throughout, and she does this by lacing twists and turns throughout the book to ensure readers will never get bored which is always a sign of a true wordsmith!
As Sam, Sara, and the Red Ball is a brilliant and charming story that should not be missed, I, of course, have to award this novel five stars!
