RED HEADED BOOK LOVER

Phantom Poetry, Kayla Lowe

From Christian romance author, Kayla Lowe, comes a collection of poems inspired by the classic tale of The Phantom of the Opera. Originally published by Gaston Leroux in 1909 and then later transformed into the Broadway award-winning musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber, the tragic story of the disfigured musical genius who lived in the bowels of the Palais Garnier has captivated audiences for more than a century.

Never before has anyone published a book of poetry pertaining exclusively to the love triangle that existed between the Phantom, his ingenue (Christine Daae), and her vicomte (Raoul de Chagny). This poetry collection consists of three chapbooks that explore these characters from a poetic standpoint. Divided into three parts, this collection features more than 100 poems that take readers on a dramatic journey to the past and into the infamous Phantom’s lair where passion, obsession, music, love, and artifice reign.

Phantom Poetry is a poetry book I was desperate to read ever since discovering it. I love poetry but only if the poems that are written are poignant, moving and will provoke my thoughts about life and myself and Phantom Poetry holds many poems that do just this. I love poetry, but sadly these days poems do not read as nicely as some classics, but I found with Phantom Poetry that they did because the words flowed beautifully from start to finish and transfixed me and compelled me from beginning to end and so I am already going to recommend this gem of a book! However, if you need more convincing then continue to read to learn more about this gem!

Phantom Poetry is a collection of poems about the Phantom of the Opera… I know, how incredible is this! The Phantom of the Opera is an incredible show and story and never before have poems been written about this classic and emotive tale. That is why my interest was piqued right away with Phantom Poetry because it is unique and sensational. In the excellent Phantom Poetry, the book features over 100 poems written by the incredible author Kayla Lowe, and in her book, she will take you on an emotive journey. So if you adore The Phantom of the Opera and poetry, then the wonderful Phantom Poetry is for you!

There are many poems in Phantom Poetry which I loved, and all of them are unique and emotive. The reader will get to read a host of different poems, and I admit book lovers that they really do pack a punch, and although a lot of them are emotional, they should still be read because it would be near impossible for somebody to not fall in love with the poems written in Phantom Poetry.

The poems laced throughout Phantom Poetry are so brilliant and unique that I have not been able to stop thinking about them. As soon as I would finish one I would end up re-reading it because I wanted to immerse myself in it again and understanding the true meaning. I love immersing myself in a poem and reading it from different perspectives, and the wonderful author Kayla Lowe challenges her readers to do this.

Kayla Lowe is a newly discovered poet of mine, but I wish I had discovered her work sooner because never before have I been so transfixed by poems. I have read a lot of poems in my time, especially since a young age but never have I ever been so provoked by the ones in Phantom Poetry, emotionally and mentally. Lowe does this with her mesmerizing prose and well developed and structured poems. The poems truly will keep readers turning the pages from beginning to end.

Overall Phantom Poetry is a sensational, unique, and beautiful poetry book that should not be missed, I, of course, have to award this stellar book five stars! So please, have a read of Phantom Poetry and get lost in the captivating words of Kayla Lowe and be compelled to read from the very beginning to the very end… you will not regret it!

Thank you so much for the lovely review, Aimee! I am so delighted that you enjoyed the poetry collection! As a huge Phan of anything having to do with the Phantom of the Opera, I’d long been considering writing a Phantom-related book, but I hesitated to write a Phantom spin-off or retelling. What if I didn’t do the story justice? Plus, there are already so many Phantom-inspired books out there, I wanted to do something different. Then one day it just came to me. Why not do a Phantom book of poetry? I considered the idea on and off for… Read more »
