Hi, Aimee. I’m the atypical author. I didn’t ever plan to have a writing career. I had the beginning chapters of three books that I had written for me during my free time.. As a lark, I finished the first one and self-published it on Amazon in July of 2017. I didn’t tell anyone. When it sold, and sold, and sold, I was forced to tell my husband what I was up to as money appeared in our bank account. I now have 35 books published. All are on Amazon with two, published wide on several platforms. Since beginning this path, I can’t imagine doing anything else. I’m having an absolute blast writing and meeting the best fans ever.
Could you please tell us readers about your book and what inspired you to write your book?
This book is the third in my erotic sci-fi age play series, The Keepers. I love the world of Nrantia and enjoy writing the stories of the humans who are transported there. I love to read any type of steamy romance. There are a lot of amazing sci-fi romances out there. They encouraged me to try one of my own.
What would your advice be for aspiring writers?
Write, write, and write some more. Also, follow your heart and brain. There are a lot of people who would never self-publish a book. For them, the best books are traditionally published. It’s important to follow your own path. Take chances. If it doesn’t work, try something else.
In your opinion, what is the most important thing about a book?
I do not write a book that doesn’t end in a happily ever after. Period. I want to believe that love will always triumph. Angst and tragedy are not entertaining to me. I write what I want to read: strong characters, an emotional journey, and a happily ever after.
What is your writing process like?
I am a pantzer. I know the story will end happily but I have no idea how the characters will get there until it happens. Each of my series has particular trademark events that I always include. For example in my Dr. RIchards’ Littles series, all the Littles have a visit or two to Dr. Richards’ office.
What kind of research do you do, and how long do you spend researching before beginning a book?
I research particulars as I go. For a fun sci-fi series like The Keepers, I just make it up as I go. I do keep a series bible for each and log particulars about characters, setting, and events.
Do you have a set schedule for writing, or do you only write when you feel inspired?
I am a writing machine. This is my full-time job and I write from early morning to about eight pm most days. I write every day. I take breaks to go to yoga, eat. and to visit my mother who lives in a nearby nursing home. I recently have begun using an efficiency method of writing 25 minutes followed by a 5-minute break to check social media, use the restroom, or anything else. Then, I repeat the process. I can create an amazing amount of a story without getting distracted.
Do you read much and if so who are your favorite authors?
I love to read. Since I started writing, I haven’t gotten to read as much unfortunately. Darla Phelps wrote the first age play book that I ever read. I loved them so much that she inspired me to try to write my own. Darla Phelps is the pen name of an amazing author, Maren Smith. She writes other genres of amazing romance novels. In addition to Maren, I love Lora Leigh, Shelley Laurenston, JD Robb, Carolyn Faulkner, and the list goes on and on.
Lastly, when can we readers expect to read more wonderful books from you?
I try to create a new book every three to four weeks. I’ve almost finished the next in the Dr. Richards’ Littles series. Steven: Dr. RIchards’ Littles 25 is a MM erotic age play novel. The two men are plumbers who have appeared in several stories already. Fans have been asking for their story for a while. It’s been great fun to write.
