Parachute Girls is a darling book that every woman will fall in love with thanks to its charm, romance and many entertaining moments that will leave readers breathless and wanting more. Parachute Girls is a book I was destined to love, after all, I adore historical fiction with military themes and love romance… what woman doesn’t! Parachute Girls is set in Manchester during World War Two and follows many core characters, one of them being the female protagonist of the novel, Kay. Kay is a young woman who has decided to live her life to the fullest so when she meets a handsome American pilot called Ray thanks to fate bringing them together through a note and a parachute, Kay jumps right in and soon Kay and Ray will be together. The reader will follow Kay and Ray along with their friends on their journey through life in World War Two, the reader will be taken along the streets of Manchester, England and will learn just how tough the war was, especially when you are trying to navigate through friendship, family, and romance.

The story of Parachute Girls is one that captivated me from the start thanks to the exceptional story that was well-developed and well thought out. Jenny Hammerle, the excellent author of the novel, has ensured that readers are thrust into the thick of the story from the start, making sure that no reader is bored and thinking of stopping reading. Hammerle instead quickly introduces the reader to the story as well as the key characters of the story, by her doing this it ensures that readers are entertained and turning the pages from beginning to end… I know I was!

Jenny Hammerle is a sensational author for many reasons, but the most superb quality of her literature is her flawless ability to transport her readers back in time. Not only does Hammerle transport her readers, but she also gives them the full experience of what the decade was like and how it was like living during World War Two. As a woman who is obsessed with military history, I loved this, I loved feeling included in the reality of what happened, it was not only entertaining but poignant. Hammerle made me feel the emotions the characters were feeling thanks to her phenomenal characterization and this, combined with her incredible ability to transport readers ensured that I was entertained for many hours on end.

Thank you, Aimee Ann, for the lovely review! I’m delighted that you enjoyed Parachute Girls and hope that your book lovers will as well. Parachute Girls was inspired by my very own grandmother, Frances Hesketh Decoteau. Born in England, her experiences during WWII were fascinating to me. Grandma worked, like many girls her age, helping the war effort by sewing trousers and parachutes. Parachute Girls is an emotional tale, weaving fact and fiction, based loosely on grandma’s life and everyday experiences from the civilian perspective. Parachute Girls is available on Amazon, Kindle, and Audible. Happy reading, book lovers!
