RED HEADED BOOK LOVER

Needing Normal, Emme Grange

What do you do when you find out

everything you know might be wrong?

Prove you’re right, of course.

And that’s exactly what Jett Harper plans to do.

As a freshman, she only has two goals:

get good grades and prove she’s normal.

That’s easy enough, right?

At least she thinks so, until she learns

her biggest assignment is to understand love.

Harder still?

She must work within an assigned group,

her Core5, and they couldn’t be more diverse.

Will they make the grade?

As the Core5 tackles the school year head on,

Jett also fights for the definitive answer to one

other simple question:

What is normal?

Needing Normal is an exceptional book written by Emme Grange and wow, what a stellar book! Needing Normal for me was moving, captivating and addictive right from the start and I felt this from beginning to end. Needing Normal was captivating to me from the start thanks to the premise of the story and the bewitching literature courtesy of the author, Emme Grange who from the start hooked me with her fantastic story. It is rare to find a novel that combines the themes this book does, and that is refreshing to me. That is why I already recommend this book, however, if you need more convincing then continue to read more to learn about Needing Normal!

Needing Normal is an exceptional novel that will introduce the reader to the protagonist of the book, Jett Harper. Jett is an exceptionally gifted freshman who is trying to fit in. Jett has been assigned to work with a group on an assignment and the reader will follow Jett as she tries to fit in with the other four in her group while navigating tricky school life and much more and this book lovers is the short premise of the incredible Needing Normal!

The premise of Needing Normal is exceptional and really touching and is a young adult novel I feel will resonate with many young readers. I loved the many themes and elements explored throughout the book, and all themes are explored by Emme Grange wonderfully, and she does this by lacing these interesting themes throughout the text flawlessly and weaving them with the story. The result of this makes Needing Normal a highly addictive and fascinating read that is never once lackluster or predictable.

Emme Grange is a phenomenal writer who knows how to grasp her reader’s attention from the first page. Grange instead of writing long, drawn-out builds up which are commonly found in novels, decides to ditch this approach and thrust her reader into the heart of the story straight away so that the reader is instantly captivated and immersed.

I personally love this approach, what is the point of having a long build-up with little excitement? This is only necessary if the author in question can’t develop the characters in the story quickly, but with Needing Normal, the reader, will not encounter this issue because Grange instantly develops her characters and makes the reader invest in not only them but also their journey.

Overall Needing Normal is a moving, compelling and thought-provoking novel that will easily entertain readers for many days and nights and so I, of course, have to award this stellar gem of a book five stars! So be sure to have a read of the book preview below, you won’t regret it!
