Moira Ashe: Enemy Within, Brendon Bertram

Fantasy, Literature & Fiction, Mystery & Suspense, Science Fiction & Space Opera, Supernatural & Paranormal, Teen & Young Adult

A blood moon is rising above Abalon. Werewolves, once heard of only in whispers around the borderlands, have been spotted in villages and towns mere miles from the capital, and the king is worried – worried enough to send Lincoln Clarke to find help.

But hunters this far from Abalon aren’t exactly keen. Lincoln’s gone through half a dozen leads before he finds Moira Ashe lurking in the corner of a tavern, her dark eyes glinting in the candlelight. It takes a bag of gold for Moira to agree even to tell Lincoln what she knows, and more still for her to allow him along on a hunt.

But what should have been a simple job turns out to be anything but. With a suspect Moira can’t pin down and a string of bodies piling up in the beast’s wake, Lincoln finds himself doubting Moira’s skill. And with time running out and the full moon approaching, failure is not an option.

But Moira has her own secrets to protect, and the beast she and Lincoln are hunting may not be the biggest threat after all…

Moira Ashe: Enemy Within is a dramatic, thrilling and exciting novel that will keep readers entertained, captivated and engrossed from the very first page. Supernatural stories are currently my go-to read so when I read the description of Enemy Within I knew that I had to read it as well as review it so that all you lovely readers could read about it. Never before have I been so captivated by a supernatural story and this is thanks to the exceptional author Brendon Bertram and his talented literature and so I already have to recommend the excellent Enemy Within!

Enemy Within is a multi-layered novel with a dramatic and engrossing plot that will introduce the reader to a time where the blood moon is rising above Abalon and werewolves, are being spotted more and more. The king of Abalon is worried, and so he sends Lincoln Clarke to find out what is happening as well as find the werewolves before more devastation is caused. The reader will follow the male protagonist of the novel, Lincoln, as he chases leads to get to the bottom of the issue and this leads him to the female protagonist, Moira. Moira took some convincing to help and a bag of gold, but she soon helps Lincoln and tells him what she knows, and she follows Lincoln on his hunt. However, the journey becomes increasingly dangerous, and Moira intel and skill is not as great as Lincoln first thought, and he doubts if she can help and this book lovers is the premise of the sensational Enemy Within!

The story of Enemy Within is excellent and incredibly well-developed thanks to Brendon Bertram, the author of the book. Bertram manages to develop his world with immaculate detail; every event, character, and setting is well thought out and planned, and I was impressed by Bertram flawless ability to do this. As I read Enemy Within I immediately was drawn into the book and felt captivated by Bertram’s spellbinding literature. Bertram’s literature is detailed in the most immaculate of ways; the text is detailed but not too dense, it is beautifully written so that the reader will be able to immerse themselves in the story from beginning to end without difficulty.

Not only is Brendon Bertram a talented author for his descriptive powers, but he is also a phenomenal writer thanks to his characterization of the female protagonist of the novel Moira. Moira is a unique character; some readers will either love or hate, but I loved the mystery surrounding her character as it kept me turning the pages with haste as I wanted to know more about her. Bertram has essentially written a character study of Moira, and I adore this approach in literature because it makes the story even more immersive and entertaining for a reader.

As Enemy Within is an exciting, compelling and action-packed supernatural adventure that will entertain and delight readers for hours on end, I, of course, have to review this incredible book five stars!
