Moctu and the Mammoth People is a compelling, well-researched story of a strong, young, dark-skinned Cro-Magnon boy who must fight his rival for leadership of his tribe and the right to mate the beautiful Nuri. Additionally, Moctu has confrontations with the “Pale Ones”, a fierce group of Neanderthals also called the People Eaters, as the two cultures interact in Paleolithic Italy 45,000 years ago.
Besides having dangerous encounters with mammoths, wolves, and saber-tooth tigers, Moctu has to deal with his older rival, Jabil, who fights and undermines him at every opportunity. After Jabil murders several elders who go against him, he deftly shifts blame onto the Pale Ones. He takes over as the tribe’s leader and makes Moctu’s life miserable.

Moctu and the Mammoth People is a phenomenal book that will take the reader back in time to the prehistoric age where the reader will follow the star of the book, Moctu, a Cro-Magnon (early modern human), dark-skinned boy who will find himself on a whirlwind journey. The reader in Moctu and the Mammoth People, will follow Moctu as he becomes kidnapped by a group of Neanderthals, which they call the ‘Pale Ones’ and then we will follow Moctu as he becomes enslaved by them however! He soon learns that they are not so bad and soon he finds himself falling for one of them, a woman named Effie.
What follows next is a shocking, daring and thrilling novel that will see Moctu have dangerous encounters with wild animals, fight his rival Jabil and take his rightful place and this book lovers is the short premise of the sensational Moctu and the Mammoth People!
The story of Moctu and the Mammoth People is sensational, and I applaud the exceptional author Neil Bockoven for putting a twist on the historical genre. The fact that the story is so original and unique and incredibly entertaining at the same time shows us that Bockoven is a talented wordsmith who knows how to be creative and brazen with his thoughts and think outside of the box. I adore how Bockoven took risks with Moctu and the Mammoth People and decided to put a twist on a much-loved genre; this is incredibly hard to do and even harder to pull off, so it is safe for me to write that I adore Bockoven’s literature!
The story of Moctu and the Mammoth People is quite simply amazing; amazing however is just one of the words I would use to describe Moctu and the Mammoth People as it is so much more than this. It is a fascinating prehistoric tale laced with many factual elements that will fascinate, shock and thrill its readers, while these elements are also weaved around a sensational fictional tale that will have you on the edge of your seat. It makes for a memorable reading experience full of many ups and downs and will have you saying ”just one more page!” as it is that incredible book lovers.
