RED HEADED BOOK LOVER

Hands Across The Sea, Brian Cook

What happens when real talk gets a little too real?

That’s the 800-lb. gorilla confronting the Office of the Sheriff.

This character-driven saga puts the rear echelon in the crosshairs as Hands Across the Sea delves into the professional and personal sides of the badge where the rubber meets the road.

The Office of the Sheriff, known as the Agency, comes face-to-face with the unexpected: the changing of the guard.

Their larger-than-life Sheriff, Garrison Cottrell, abruptly resigns and passes the torch to his hand-picked successor – Brendan Callaghan.

Explore how the Command staffers’ isms intertwine with their leadership styles and come to light during kaleidoscopic situations. Gear up for what happens when the door shuts and the dialogue begins – and sometimes, not in that order. Will it bring the Agency together or tear it apart?

Brian Cook doesn’t just peer back the curtain, he pulls it down and gives you a look into personalities that often takes on the guise of Peyton Place. But we’re still talking about professionals, right?

Hands Across The Sea is a novel unlike anything I have read before. Thrillers/crime novels are my favorite genre, so it is no surprise that I have read many books from these two genres but none have been so in-depth and as thrilling as Hands Across The Sea. You lovely readers will read shortly what this novel is about but the core theme of it is a look into The Office of the Sheriff and gosh does it make for exceptionally gripping reading! If you are a reader that adores crime as well as an intimate look into the lives of Officers, then Hands Across The Sea is a book that should not be missed… it would be a crime to do so!

Hands Across The Sea is a novel that is difficult to explain because of fears of spoiling the engrossing plot that should not be ruined as well as the fact that the story is multi-layered and laced with many exceptional themes. The core theme and premise of Hands Across The Sea is an examination of the lives behind the badge. The reader will follow The offices of the Sheriff as turmoil unravels when Sheriff, Garrison Cottrell resigns and passes the duty to Brendan Callaghan. What ensues next is a conflict of personalities, and tensions that will have the reader turning the pages like a mad person and this book lovers is the general premise of the story.

Although my description is vague, please know that I have written it this way for fear of spoiling the novel for you readers. The description of this book does not give too much away, and so I do not want to as Hands Across The Sea is a novel that should be read without knowing hardly anything about the plot. The plot of Hands Across The Sea is an intricate and multi-layered one with many terrifying, and gripping themes laced throughout it, and this is all thanks to the exceptional author, Brian Cook.

Brian Cook is a talented author and the perfect man to write a novel that focuses on the lives of officers as Cook himself was an officer… Retired Lieutenant of the Alameda County Sherrif’s Office to be precise! The fact that Cook is a retired Lieutenant means that he is well equipped as well as well informed to write this story, and because of his extensive knowledge and experiences in the field of law enforcement, it adds an extra layer of brilliance to an already outstanding tale.

Brian Cook’s words are gripping as well as chilling. The examination of the lives of officers is a brilliant premise for a story and sheds light on what really happens in Sherrif offices all over America. Hands Across The Sea is in no way a nonfiction book. However, it is apparent to the reader that there is some truth laced throughout this book and that truth makes for excellent and fun reading.

As I read Hands Across the Sea I felt compelled to read for many hours on end, which is always great considering this book is over 600 pages long! Yes, you read that correct, Hands Across The Sea is a large novel however in no way is it ever lackluster or boring because instead, it is a thrilling story that will keep readers hooked thanks to the host of twists, turns and surprises laced throughout its story.

As Hands Across The Sea is a stunning piece of fiction that will entertain, captivate, and engross readers from very early on and until the very end, I have no choice but to award this magnificent book Five Stars! So please book lovers, read this book and get lost in a phenomenal story. Also, keep an eye out for a review of book two in this series in the next coming weeks!
