RED HEADED BOOK LOVER

Greenspell, Kathy Ann Trueman

In this collection of fantasy short stories all featuring female protagonists, you’ll find diverse, imaginative tales, including:

A sorceress unravels a spell and gets a result she could never have expected…

A young girl wins a contest–her prize: to speak with a god…

A vampire in hiding fears she’ll be blamed for the reckless depredations of another of her kind…

A minstrel travels with a witch who has a pair of very unusual cart horses…

As a bonus, this anthology includes “The Sow’s Ear”, originally published in Marion Zimmer Bradley’s acclaimed Sword and Sorceress series.

Anthologies are soon becoming my favorite type of reads: why? They are the perfect books to pick up and get lost in if ever you are having a busy day. I adore anthologies, but only if they are written flawlessly with each story being supremely well developed. Greenspell is just this; a perfect anthology book that has flawlessly written stories written throughout it that will compel, intrigue, and excite you from beginning to end! Kathy Ann Trueman, the talented author of Greenspell, is an incredible writer whose work needs to be recognized and read by readers so, please book lovers, if you adore anthologies and books with brilliant stories then you will love this!

Greenspell is, of course, an anthology (a collection of short stories) and so the readers get to experience many different stories and witness many different lives and circumstances, however, all of the stories are written from a woman’s perspective and feature female protagonists which I think is brilliant! Each story in this excellent collection is unique and different from the other one. They never once sound similar, and that is a hard quality to achieve with an anthology, so already I have to applaud Trueman for her talent to write original, creative stories!

Greenspell is a composition of stories which are all unique, highly creative, and different from each other. Each story features a female protagonist that drives the story forward. There are many stories laced throughout the incredible Greenspell, but one, in particular, stand out to me and left a lasting impression. One of these stories was about a girl who won a competition, and her prize is that she can speak with God. This was a fascinating story to me because I was intrigued by how that conversation would go down! However, this is just one of the many short stories laced throughout Greenspell so please read this book and experience them all book lovers!

Kathy Ann Trueman is an incredibly talented author; there is no doubt about this as she has proved this in her different short stories. I adored how she managed to set the scene up for the story quickly and make me able to invest in the characters in the matter of a few pages.

As I love Greenspell so much, I have no choice but to award Greenspell a dazzling five stars! It is a unique, captivating, thrilling, exceptional book that will have you turning the pages with haste. The stunning literature courtesy of Kathy Ann Trueman will excite as well as enthrall you from the first page with her well-formed stories. So please book lovers, read this excellent book, you will not be disappointed!

Having read this wonderful anthology more than once, I can honestly recommend this book. There are some that will surprise you in the direction they take, quite not what you expect, so refreshing. Hopefully you will also read her other works.
