Ella listens to the rain drip, dribble, drop. While others stay indoors, Ella hustles outside with her new umbrella and listens to the rain fall a cappella. Join Ella on her jazzy journey through the rain as she explores all the interesting sounds a puddle-filled rainstorm has to offer.
Ella’s Umbrella is a brilliant, beautifully written and captivating children’s book for children aged between 3 and 7 that will take its young readers on a ‘jazzy journey’ while entertaining and inspiring readers from page one! Ella’s Umbrella is an incredible book that captured my attention right away, I adored the premise of the book and from the cover alone I knew that it was going to be beautifully illustrated and so I was excited to read it with my children and well, it was a hit!
My children adored Ella’s Umbrella and loved the vibrant illustrations, the protagonist Ella and of course the literature that had a lyrical feel that was easy to read from start to finish. As a mom, I love to find children’s books I can share with other parents and carers and I can happily recommend Ella’s Umbrella as it has everything a child would want in a picture book and more! However, if you need more convincing then continue to read to learn more about the wonderful Ella’s Umbrella.
Ella’s Umbrella is a sensational book that will introduce the reader to the protagonist and star of the book Ella. Ella is an adorable young girl many children will be able to relate to and the reader will follow her on her adventures outdoors in the rain. Ella LOVES the rain, so much so that she loves to go outside when it does (while most stay indoors!) and jump in puddles. This puddle jumping is something Ella loves to do the most as these jumps in the puddles and the splishes and splashes that comes along with them, make sounds that she can have tons of fun to!
The young reader of this book will not be able to not smile when reading this book as Ella’s joy and infectious personality is inspiring and all children will close this book with a smile on their faces thanks to Ella, the illustrations and lyrical writing.
As a mother, I can happily write too that this book has an adorable message laced throughout it’s story. Ella braces the elements outside, she braces the cold, wet and stormy weather and still has a smile on her face no matter what. This can easily be a metaphor for having a smile on your face through the darker times in your life and as a parent, I thought it was very admirable that the wonderful author, Courtney Shannon Strand, laced this throughout her book and for that I applaud her.
Courtney Shannon Strand is an incredible author for her poignant messaged weaved throughout the story but she also is for the engaging story she has written. I have read many children’s books with my children and it’s a shame to say that some of them just do not captivate their attention long enough! But I did not encounter this issue with Strand’s book as she has written an engaging, captivating children’s story that will alight young readers’ minds with amazement.
As well as this I felt from an adult reader’s perspective that there was a genuine passion from Strand in her literature. I truly believe that she loves putting a smile on children’s faces and well, she certainly achieved that with my children and I am sure many others too! After all, this book already has received great reviews, one of them being a five-star rating from Readers Favorite, but also an award from PNWA for best picture book! Which is all just the icing on the cake.
To conclude my thoughts on this charming and adorable children’s book, I would say if you are looking for an upbeat children’s book, with a poignant message and a read that will capture your child’s attention from page one, then Ella’s Umbrella is for you!
