One thousand years ago, the Towers on the Isle of Wisdom were beacons of hope. Originally started to train Sorcerers, Clerics, and Warriors to protect the Athanasian Realm, the Towers gave the people a sense of security against the enemies in the Tenebrosity Realm. But when the original Tower members left, that peace was shattered, and now, the Towers have fallen into a state of decline.
Now run by the Merila, the Mahatma, the Towers are not what they used to be. Magic users are practically impotent. The knowledge of the past has been hidden away, keeping everyone complacent and weak. Protecting the Athanasian Realm seems almost impossible now.
When the current Luminary, Eliza, is poisoned and loses her powers, Merila appoints Eliza’s Second, Adicia, to the position.
Adicia, though, isn’t quite as gullible and naïve as Merila thinks she is. When things start spiraling out of control around the time of the Springtime Celebration, Adicia and he friends, Tavis and Gara, discover things aren’t quite what they seem.
Orc attacks, ignored cries for help, youths with unteachable magical abilities, and strange innuendos about the towers can Adicia and her friends track down Garnrin? There’s only one problem – Garnrin is not only retired, he is only one who can bring Merila down.
Adicia and her friends must fight rogue magic users, goblins, and hell hounds, all while trying to uncover the truth about the Towers, the Realm, and everything in-between.
Can they bring the Towers back to their former glory, or will their quest lead to the destruction of the entire Athanasian Realm?
Deceived is an excellent book written by the exceptional and talented M.C. Colon and wow what a stellar story! Deceived is a book I was keen to read ever since discovering it because I always love to find inspiring but thrilling fantasy stories to read so when I discovered Deceived I thought ‘is this finally the perfect book?!’. Now that I have finished Deceived, I can happily write that yes it is book lovers, and that is why I already have to recommend it to you lovely readers!
Deceived is a fantasy adventure that will first tell readers about the Towers on the Isle of Wisdom, which was formed over a thousand years ago and was a beacon of hope for all that lived in the Athanasian Realm. However, when the original people that guarded the tower leave, things change for the worse and it is up to Adicia and her friends to change this. The reader will follow Adicia along with her friends as she tries to bring the ‘Towers back to their former glory’ while they battle enemies and evil creatures and reveal shocking secrets at the same time and this book lovers is the premise of the incredible Deceived!
The story of Deceived is a thrilling one thanks to the enthralling and action-packed moments as well as the unpredictable nature of the book that will have the readers turning the pages with haste from beginning to end. I love books that involve a journey because usually in these stories the characters develop and grow as they overcome events and battles which in turn adds to the development of the character in question and explores life lessons throughout the book and that is most certainly the case with Deceived which I loved! What I loved most, however, about Deceived is that the reader is taken on an adventure that is continuously evolving and changing, which in turn kept me hooked from beginning to end.
M.C. Colon is an incredibly talented author who clearly knows how to write unique but engaging stories. It was evident to me from the start that Colon is a passionate writer who surely loves entertaining readers with her literature and putting a smile on readers’ faces. I loved this about the author, but what I loved the most about Colon’s writing is her remarkable descriptions because they genuinely amazed me. Fantasy novels, in general, are challenging to write because you have to transport the reader quickly and effortlessly, but sadly this is rarely accomplished in a fantasy story but not with Deceived. Deceived is the way it is because Colon knows what she is doing!
The premise of Deceived is exceptional, original, and unlike anything, I have read before. I loved the many themes and elements explored throughout the book, and all themes are explored by Colon wonderfully, and she does this by lacing these exciting themes throughout the text flawlessly and weaving them with the story. The result of this makes Deceived a highly addictive and fascinating read that is never once lackluster or predictable, and this, in turn, kept me hooked from start to finish!
Overall Deceived is a marvelous, stellar and supreme fantasy book that will entertain, delight as well as charm readers from start to finish! And so I, of course, have to award this book five stars!
