It was a joy to grow up in New Orleans, Louisiana, during the sixties and seventies. The Big Easy was always, and still is, an urban community, where people take pride in their neighborhoods, the food they cook, the schools they attend, and the social clubs of which they are members. In addition to those experiences, all New Orleanians can share classic stories about their childhoods, including Mardi Gras events or tales about riding their bikes across the city then stopping at a local corner-grocery store to purchase a po’boy sandwich. I have shared some of my unique experiences that, hopefully, will help the readers of this book reminisce about their past experiences and cherish those memories while sharing them with friends and family.

Creole Boy is a thought-provoking and stellar memoir that will take its readers on a memorable journey as we witness the author’s experiences of growing up in New Orleans during the sixties and seventies. Creole Boy is written by author Herman J. Galatas Sr., who shares his journey with us, and the journey the reader will encounter is incredible as well as eye-opening, and his story will make you feel a host of different emotions! That is why I already recommend this lovely book; however, if you need more convincing, then continue to read to learn more!

Creole Boy is an incredible memoir in which Herman openly shares his life with us readers touchingly and movingly. The reader will follow Herman as he reflects on his joyful childhood in New Orleans during the 1960s and 1970s as he recounts his city’s vibrant community spirit, memorable experiences, and cherished traditions. Herman shares his personal stories beautifully with us readers and invites readers to reminisce and connect with their own past and treasured memories, too, and the result is a captivating and unforgettable read that shouldn’t be missed!

The profoundness in Creole Boy is sensational, and many readers will feel a host of different emotions while reading Herman’s book. Herman effortlessly inspires thoughts and feelings in his readers and compels them to read from beginning to end. I found myself reading Creole Boy at an alarming rate because it was captivating as well as absorbing; Herman’s incredible literature will have you turning the pages frantically, and I adored how he was able to do this.

Memoirs with poignant themes at their core are my favorite type of books to read, and Creole Boy is just that kind of book. At the heart of this memoir is a child, embracing the richness of Creole culture and community, and it is incredible to read about and will relate to many with multicultural backgrounds! I adore memoirs of this nature as they give the reader insight into a person’s life, and when the reader is granted this insight, the reader can learn so much from their story, and many readers will be able to learn a lot from Herman’s story in Creole Boy.

Herman is a remarkable person and writer who knows how to effortlessly captivate his readers. Herman is an incredible person for being so honest in sharing his story with us, and it helps that he is a talented author and is able to convey his story wonderfully, too! Herman’s excellent writing is a joy to read and flows beautifully throughout so that the reader will feel compelled to read non-stop.

To conclude my thoughts on the wonderful book that is Creole Boy, I would say Herman has written an insightful, informative, inspiring book, and that is why I, of course, have to award this book five stars! So be sure to have a read of the book below, you won’t regret it!
