Cracks Beneath the Surface is an incredible and unforgettable tale that will introduce readers to our protagonist, Maddy, a woman who has married John Jacob Astor IV, a rich and prominent man who she expects to share a life of comfort and excitement with, however with high society comes a mountain of problems and Maddy will soon find this out.
The reader will follow Maddy as she is thrust into high society and thus, gossip, especially about her near thirty-year age gap. It is onboard the RMS Titanic that cracks in their marriage begin to show as secrets come to the light, and when disaster strikes, Maddy’s world will be turned upside down forever, and this book lovers is the short premise of the incredible Cracks Beneath the Surface!
The tale of Cracks Beneath the Surface is gripping, moving, and let’s not forget incredible. This story truly did astound me with its captivating narration and compelling plotline. As well as being an excellent and poignant novel, it is also a unique, diverse one that stands out amongst the genre and I have to say that I adored this because I was getting very tired of reading the same old books, so thank you, Laura McCrum, for writing a novel that is not only gripping but poignant too!
Laura McCrum can only be described as a talented, accomplished writer who knows what a reader wants in a great story. As I read Cracks Beneath the Surface, I read every sentence slowly so that I could absorb all of the book’s information; I felt as if I was there, and it made for an immersive reading experience. McCrum is an excellent writer who is well accomplished, and her work astounded me from the very beginning thanks to her storytelling.
To conclude my thoughts on the captivating novel that is Cracks Beneath the Surface, I would say if you are bored with the same old books, then take a chance with this gem because you will not be disappointed. It has everything you would want in a great story, and that is spine-tingling good content, dynamic, memorable characters, and a brilliant author.
