Cheerful Obedience is an incredible military tale that will introduce the reader to the protagonist of the book, Conor Patrick McKall who has given up his chance to avoid the draft and chooses to serve in the Vietnam War. The reader will follow Conor as his life is quickly turned upside down as he quickly goes from being a regular person to leading a group of soldiers through dangerous jungles. It is here that he becomes close friends with Jack “Red” Sheridan after they face tough situations together which makes them only stronger.

However this tale is more than your typical war tale as we are also taken to Sydney where Conor has a short break and meets someone special. It forces Conor to choose between love and duty, and it makes for a powerful tale that will leave you wanting more, and this book lovers is the short premise of the incredible Cheerful Obedience!

The story laced throughout Cheerful Obedience is full of action and suspense and these two themes, combined with many others, especially poignant ones! Are weaved together flawlessly by the author Patrick McLaughlin and the result is an incredibly entertaining story that I will not forget for a long time!

Patrick McLaughlin is the author of Cheerful Obedience and I wish so much I had found his book sooner! I wish I had because it has been a long time since I have read a military tale this good! So I was thrilled to discover Cheerful Obedience as it is an incredible book, full of twists and turns galore and sensational literature courtesy of McLaughlin.

Patrick McLaughlin has managed to write a tale, that makes for the perfect and shocking adventure but one that is laced with poignant moments too. McLaughlin’s book is sensational because his tale knows just how to whisk his readers away and take them on an adventure full of many thrilling and shocking moments. As well as this the descriptions are beautiful and they will correctly place you in the thick of the story, making you imagine every detail as well as making you imagine you are right there with the characters of the novel. This, in turn, keeps the reader hooked and turning the pages which is what a reader would want in a novel!

Overall Cheerful Obedience is a magnificent, sensational, and entertaining book that will easily entertain its readers and captivate them to read for many hours so I, of course, have to award this incredible book five stars! Be sure to have a read of the book below, you won’t regret it!
