Feeling stifled as a Jew living in a Moldovan shtetl, violinist Elazar just wants to find love and eventually succeed his father as conductor of the family band and hardware business.

At his cousin’s wedding, Elazar falls for Ita Kaplan, an heiress from Bolgrad, but she plans to move to Paris and become a painter. He’s then taken by Mariam Gabashvili, the daughter of a local vintner, but is forbidden to marry her because she’s not Jewish.

I admit however that my expectations going in were high, maybe too high! Thanks to the description that intrigued me and I thought maybe they would not be exceeded, but now that I have finished The Reluctant Conductor I can happily write that they were! And that is why The Reluctant Conductor is a novel that should be read and loved.

The Reluctant Conductor is a memorable and brilliant tale that will take its readers on an enthralling and poignant journey from start to finish. The reader in The Reluctant Conductor will thrust the reader back in time to before, during, and after WWII as we witness one Jewish family’s struggle against the backdrop of the USSR and Hitler’s reign. The reader will meet Elazar, a violinist who longs for love and to overtake his father as conductor of the family band. However, life has over plans for him as he and his family find themselves caught up in WWII where they look to put the pieces of their broken lives back together. I love books that involve a journey, and the reader has just this in The Reluctant Conductor as the reader is taken on a brilliant journey from start to finish. What I loved most about The Reluctant Conductor is that the reader is taken on a journey that is continuously evolving and changing which in turn kept me hooked from beginning to end.

The Reluctant Conductor managed to entertain me for many hours on end thanks to the unique premise of the story as well as the excellent literature courtesy of Tim Turner & Moisey Gorbaty. Very rarely do I discover a book that captivates me as fast as The Reluctant Conductor has so the fact that I am so taken with this book shows you, readers, that this book indeed is incredible and not to be missed!

Tim Turner & Moisey Gorbaty are incredibly talented authors who clearly know how to write unique but engaging stories. It was evident to me from the start that Turner & Gorbaty are a passionate writer duo who surely love entertaining readers with their literature as well as moving them! From the start of The Reluctant Conductor, I found myself hooked and this is a testament to how incredible Tim Turner & Moisey Gorbaty’s literature is.

To conclude my thoughts on the exciting novel that is The Reluctant Conductor, I would say The Reluctant Conductor is a marvelous, stellar, and supreme book that will entertain and move readers from start to finish and so I, of course, have to award this book five stars!
