Water, Ethan Holmes

Dystopian & Post Apocalyptic, Fantasy, Literature & Fiction, Science Fiction & Space Opera

Rachel and Tommy Kinslow are on a mission of vengeance against frackers. Gerry Gandling is on a mission of his own, believing the only way to restore the ecosystem and relieve the water shortages across the country is to blow up every single dam. Mike Olgram is trying to get large municipalities and major cities to understand what needs to be done right now as they watch their water supplies disappear. The Lauderman family is in survival mode when Ron tells his wife Annie that their city, Temple, Texas, is out of water. Terry Scofield finds out the hard way that it’s illegal to collect rainwater in Oregon. Bernie Franklin rolls his semi into Las Vegas only to watch the city crumble into chaos. And then there’s Abby Hackett, an obstacle in the path of Tommy and Rachel’s vengeance who turns out to be much more.
Water, by Ethan Holmes weaves the stories of these characters into an intriguing scenario of the survival of life without readily available potable water.

Wow, I am shocked.  Water is a chilling, exhilarating read that kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. This book is addictive as well as enthralling, it engrossed me just from the description alone and when I did indeed start to read this story it thrilled me! It has astonishing characters, riveting literature, and a spine-tingling good plot. Already I would implore you lovely readers to read this book, but if you need more convincing, then please read the rest of my review to hear more about this brilliant book!

Water is an intense novel full of depth which explores a water drought which is causing chaos in the world. Debate is rife about why there are such water shortages, is it because of global warming, political decisions which have affected the water supply, fracking? It could be any of these things or is it because of man-made dams which restrict the waters natural flow? The reader will see many different characters as they all have their own solution to fix the water drought. Rachel and Tommy Kinslow want to unleash vengeance upon frackers who have been disrupting the supply, Gerry Gandling wants to blow up all the water dams as he thinks that this will bring the ecosystem back on track to harmony. Although this book does not just feature characters who want to unleash a kind of revenge because we also follow a character called Terry Scofield who is persecuted for collecting rainwater… I know, rainwater! That is the sheer beauty of this book because it takes the reader on a journey in which the reader will witness people from all walks of life and how the water drought is affecting them.

The story of Water is quite simply brilliant and wildly entertaining. It is no lie that one day there will be water rations because of growing populations and this book explores the issue of a restricted water supply and what would happen. It is a very possible future and that is what makes Water a chilling book. Water is the most precious thing in the world because without it humans would not be able to survive so this is one of the many reasons why I applaud Ethan Holmes for his incredibly poignant story!

Water is a new found favorite book of mine thanks to its gripping, glorious, triumphant story that hooked me from beginning to end.  It is a book that is an all-consuming assault of excellence and because of this I struggled to put it down; I was compelled to read the intriguing story, the authors writing was so exciting and thrilling at the same time that I could not resist! The story of Water is unlike anything I have read or heard of before. It is a unique dystopian book that stands out amongst the crowd. This is because the story is wonderfully written and the plot perfectly executed. It is relentless and that is how dystopian books should be! I adore these kinds of books where they push the boundaries, it is daring, bold and frankly brilliant! I always measure my likeness of a book on whether I find myself looking at the page number; if I do in fact do this I know that the novel is taking its toll. However with Water I never once found myself referring to the page number and that is a sure sign that this book is a compelling piece of work that draws the reader in and captivates them to read it quickly!

Ethan Holmes, the author of the novel can only be described as a talented writer, the finest kind who is imaginative as well as passionate; these are two qualities I look for in an author and Holmes certainly, has them! His words were exceptional and very chilling and always kept me thinking of new questions about the characters, the story and the scenario which was taking place. I desperately wanted to know what was going to happen so that is why Water truly is a thought-provoking novel that will thrill and excite you the whole way through!

To summarise my thoughts on the fantastic Water, I would say if you are looking for a unique dystopian book full of many heart-pounding action-packed moments as well as perfect characterization and phenomenal writing then Water is for you! Water gets Five Stars from me!
