RED HEADED BOOK LOVER

Unforgettable, Eve Peters

Fantasy, Gay & Lesbian Fiction, Literature & Fiction, Science Fiction & Space Opera, Supernatural & Paranormal

For Cassidy “Cas” Dubois, being forgotten is not just an unfortunate occurrence, it is her profession. Her born talent makes her a valuable asset to the supernatural community that would rather not have mortals remembering the strange occurrences that go on in Knoxville, Tennessee – the place she has lived for as long as she can recall.

The unfortunate side effect of her ability is that very few people remember her – not even when she wants them to. That is until a new player arrives in town and takes a keen interest in her. Unfamiliar with such attention, Cas must reconcile her desire to get out of the life with the possibility of making a genuine connection with the first person to not forget her the moment they part.

Her dilemma is forgotten when a job goes sideways and Cas finds herself in the role of investigator instead of just the cleanup crew. People with abilities – people like her – are going missing. Worse, whispers of war complicate matters. Something bad is brewing in the supernatural realm… Can Cas and the others figure it out before it’s too late?

A short while ago I read and reviewed an incredible book by an equally incredible author called Children of the Fallen. Children of the Fallen was an outstanding novel that thrilled and compelled me from start to finish with its supernatural moments and fast-paced narrative courtesy of the author Eve Peters. That is why upon finishing Children of the Fallen I was desperate to read the accompanying book in the series called Unforgettable. Unforgettable is more of a companion novel rather than a direct sequel because it is its own story which in some ways ties in with the first book. Unforgettable was a book I was desperate to read because after all, I loved the first book so much! So I was very excited to read Unforgettable, and now that I have finished it I can happily write that Eve Peters did not disappoint, and once again she astounded me with her literature that was beyond mesmerizing.

Unforgettable follows the protagonist of the novel called Cassidy Dubois, known mostly as Cas. Cas is a bright woman with a talent that makes her a ‘valuable asset to the supernatural community.’ What is this asset? Well I can’t spoil this book lovers but what I can write is that it does complicate her life massively, it helps with her tasks however it complicates her personal lives because those around her forget her, even if she wants to be remembered by them. I mean could you imagine book lovers, people always forgetting you! It would be horrible, so at this point, the reader will already start to sympathize with Cas. Cas, however, will soon be forced on a dangerous mission in which she begins to investigate the disappearance of people with special abilities, people like her! This will force Cas into action and what follows is truly shocking as well as thrilling!

The story of Unforgettable is a sensational one, and I love how Eve Peters has perfectly expanded on the supernatural world she has already so perfectly created. The expansion that unfolds throughout the book is stellar and will definitely have readers minds astounded with amazement. Besides, the expansion combined with the unfolding mystery, mission and the discussion of the supernatural abilities added to the overall fact that Unforgettable is incredible and definitely not to be missed!

Eve Peters is a talented wordsmith, I wrote this in my first review for her work, and I will write it again because it is true. Peters has a wonderful ability to flawlessly write fantasy and mystery and combine the two genres perfectly so that the reader will always be thrilled and enchanted. The tension Peters builds alone is incredible, and slowly throughout the book, the tension and the mystery will reach such a high state that it explodes and when it does it is satisfying! I love how Peters wrote her novel this way, I thought that it was not only entertaining but also smart because Unforgettable is a short novel just over 100 pages so the fact that she was able to perfectly write an expansive novel and build tension and intrigue throughout is phenomenal and so she definitely deserves much praise for this.

Overall Unforgettable is an outstanding, brilliant fantasy mystery that is a perfect follow up to a wonderful first book and so, I will, of course, be awarding Unforgettable five stars! So please book lovers, do have a read of the preview below and be sure to have a look at Children of the Fallen, both books are incredible and should not be missed!
