Captain Reena Charlisse Hyde always gets what she wants. She wanted to be the best female pirate on the Caribbean and she is. She wants to find the mythical Fountain of Youth and she knows the location of the map. And now after searching across the Caribbean for the man she intends to marry, she has found him. There are only two problems. He doesn’t want to be found, and he’s on board a Royal Navy frigate—the last place a pirate should venture.

Frederick Carlton thought he was finally safe from the woman who held his heart. But her attempt to rescue him labels him a deserter from the Royal Navy. He’s turned his life over to God and plans on being a preacher, but every moment he spends with Reena drives him deeper into a past he longs to forget.

Mutinies, deserted islands, treasure maps, battles, traitors, and villains send the couple sailing on a tsunami of adventure throughout the Caribbean in search of the Fountain of Youth. Frederick longs to escape the lure of the woman he loves. Reena longs for Frederick to love her again. But in the end, they will both have to choose between eternal youth or the lives of everyone they love.

Historical fiction combined with a romance theme is my go to read and a read I love to get lost in. The Reckless is a historical fiction tale, and the story that unfolds throughout the book is captivating and kept me hooked for hours! This is thanks to the well-developed plot and phenomenal literature courtesy of MaryLu Tyndall whose literature is stunning and full of believable and likable characters. I have read many historical fiction novels but never before have I been so captivated by a story as I have been with The Reckless.

The Reckless is a sensational historical romance that will take readers on an adventure like no other. The reader will be introduced to the protagonist of the novel, Reena Charlisse Hyde, a female Captain pirate who is the best pirate in the Caribbean. Captain Reena is on a mission to find the mythical Fountain of Youth, but before doing so, she wants to find the man she intends to marry, Frederick Carlton who happens to be aboard a Royal Navy frigate which complicates her plans. What follows is a thrilling, adventure-packed adventure on the sea that will take readers across the beautiful but also the deadly Caribbean and this book lovers is the premise of the excellent The Reckless.

The Reckless is a gem of a book that I needed to read. For so long I have read books that are quite oppressive so to read a novel that yes, features a few troubling themes but tastefully and compellingly was refreshing! Besides the journey, the reader encounters is a mesmerizing one, and I loved following the protagonists of the novel on their journey together. The Reckless indeed was a heart-warming read; although know book lovers that The Reckless is not all lovey-dovey, in fact, there are some troubling themes and even thrilling themes that kept me reading for hours on end!

The Reckless is a multi-layered novel full of many exciting and lovely themes and all the themes explored throughout The Reckless and these themes combined make the book a sensational story that is fascinating as well as captivating. What makes the themes in the novel so brilliant is that the exceptional author of this novel, MaryLu Tyndall flawlessly weaves them together into her plot so that the reader is entertained from beginning to end.

The Reckless is full of twists and turns galore, the book and the story that unravels is thrilling and will keep your hearts racing, and there are a few moments which will definitely evoke certain feelings in its readers. I love how the author kept me on edge constantly and made me feel a host of different emotions, Tyndall is an exceptional writer because she knows just how to captivate her reader and keep them engrossed from beginning to end. I always measure my likeness of a book on whether I find myself looking at the page number; if I do in fact do this I know that the novel is taking its toll… in other words it is dragging, and I want it to end but The Reckless was different than this and not like this at all as never once did I find myself referring to the page number and that is a sure sign that this book is a compelling piece of work that draws the reader in and captivates them to read it quickly and to reach the end of the book very fast!

The author MaryLu Tyndall can only be described as a literary artisan. Writing for me is an art form, it is much of an art as beautiful renaissance sculptures (I have a passion for reading as well as the renaissance period!), paintings and wonderfully executed movies that excite the viewer. The objective of any great writer is that of an artist; it is to communicate a message and to delight the recipient whether that be the listener, the viewer or the reader… in this case the reader. Tyndall has wonderfully charmed me and has communicated the novel’s message to me soundly and perfectly. This is why I am in such awe of her, she is a creative genius and a visionary thinker that is also passionate and articulate and this, in my opinion, is a hard balance to find these days in the art of literature.

MaryLu Tyndall is a talented wordsmith; her brilliant story combined with her flawless narration amazed me and had me turning the pages with haste. Tyndall’s superb book is perfect and makes for a brisk, steady read that is full of twists and turns galore. I adore her plot device of twists and turns as they kept me intrigued and ensured that I never once got bored.
