The Pearl of Immortality is an engrossing, enthralling read that enchanted me from the first page; I found this book to be so phenomenal and addictive that I found it unputdownable which is always a great sign when reading a book! The plot was riveting thanks to the whimsical twists and turns that kept me entertain and surprised, the characters were absorbing and lastly, the writing was excellent; we have all of this to thank and more to the novels wonderful author Nishi Singh! Already I would implore you lovely readers to read The Pearl of Immortality, it may be a YA book but to be honest,  I think more adults read YA then teenagers do! Besides, it is a brilliant, captivating read that can be enjoyed at any age. If you need more convincing then please feel free to read the rest of my review to hear all about this dazzling book!

The Pearl of Immortality follows two characters with one being more prominent to the story than the other. These two children discover a magical lamp very early on in the book and when they do something with this lamp, they find themselves whisked away to a different planet that is wonderous but also a little frightening at the same time. Xerxes, who is the novels primary protagonist, becomes a dragon rider with the help of someone with experience. We follow Xerxes as we discover his history and his prophecy as he learns to harness his newfound skills. Our other main character Kaspar is a young boy who rescues a princess once arriving on this strange new planet and when he does so he is chosen to inherit the powers of a wise, legendary warrior. However, this novel is not this straightforward because evil is afoot and soon the two novels protagonist embark on a terrifying, but incredible quest to save the world from the evil and the darkness.

The synopsis of The Pearl of Immortality is a gripping, glorious, fantasy read that took my breath away on more than one occasion. The plot of the novel is captivating as well as surprising and this is thanks to the author and her brilliant writing; this novel really is an all-consuming assault of excellence and it keeps you motivated to read until the very end.

The Pearl of Immortality is a book I adore to a very high extent, I am obsessed with 18th Century Persia as well as all things associated with the classical period so the fact that this novel is centered around this time period and place made me fall in love with the story even more. The story is an incredibly dynamic piece of work which holds an incredible pace as well as a wonderfully written plot. I did not get bored once reading this novel; I always measure my likeness of a book on whether I find myself looking at the page number; if I do in fact do this I know that the novel is taking its toll… in other words it is dragging and I want it to end but The Pearl of Immortality was different than this and not like this at all as never once did I find myself referring to the page number and that is a sure sign that this book is a compelling piece of work that draws the reader in and captivates them to read it quickly and to reach the end of the book very fast.

The author of the novel Nishi Singh has done a wonderful job at captivating the reader from the very first page. Singh, immediately throws the reader in the midst of action and it makes for an exhilarating experience, she perfectly described every aspect in her novel, capturing the vividness and beauty of the world and the dragons. Her descriptions of her characters all of the wonderous surrounding really did floor me; she really is a creative, vivid, imaginative thinker which is great to read.. Especially with a fantasy novel!

To summarize my thoughts on the charismatic novel that is The Pearl of Immortality I would say if you are a reader who Is tired of reading the same old books that are lackluster and forgettable then take a chance with this book because I promise you now that you will not be disappointed.
