The Dark Room is a thrilling novel that combines a mix of themes which leaves readers excited, terrified and wanting more. The Dark Room is a fascinating novel that entertained as well as intrigued me from the very start; ever since reading the description of the book, I knew that I had to read the novel, especially at the mention of an affair with a deadly twist! I do not know why but I love stories that feature a theme of ‘what if,’ even if it is a sinister what if. Many readers turn to literature to read about events that are not commonly discussed and get lost in another person’s world for reading pleasure, and personally, I think that The Dark Room is the perfect read for those that want this. From beginning to end I was engrossed by the psychological thriller aspects and of course the exceptional writing courtesy of Natalie Banks. If you are a reader who is looking to get lost in a dramatic, thrilling and memorable novel, then The Dark Room is for you! However, if you need more convincing then continue to read my review to learn more about this sensational book.
The Dark Room is a sinister, sexy and deadly thriller that follows the protagonist of the novel, Anna Walker, a beautiful woman who is married to a man named Nick. Anna, however, is not entirely happy in her marriage, well, how can she be considering that she has been having a passionate affair with a bad boy photographer called Alec Prentice! Anna, despite feeling guilty of her affair struggles to call it quits with Alec, she can’t seem to stay away from him and neither can Alec stay away from her. One day, however, Anna does break it off with him but soon she starts to notice disturbing behaviors from Alec and that actually, he is pretty creepy!
Anna will soon find herself being stalked by somebody, but she has no idea who, the obvious guess would be Alec, but really it can be anybody book lovers. The stalking escalates more and more, and one day, when she is home alone with her gun, she waits for whoever is trying to kill her. Will Anna outsmart her stalker? Read the nerve-racking The Dark Room to find out!
The story of The Dark Room was everything I wanted it to be and more. There are many positive reviews for The Dark Room online, so of course, I got my hopes up! Besides, I always know when a book will be incredible, and now that I have finished reading The Dark Room I can happily write that it was more than just incredible… it was exceptional! From beginning to end book lovers, I was hooked by the razor-sharp prose, fast-paced narrative and dramatic plot development that had me on tenterhooks from beginning to end.
When I read The Dark Room, I was able to visualize every moment in my mind thanks to the excellent plot development and descriptions courtesy of Natalie Banks. The book will play out in readers minds like a movie, and although this may not sound true, it is book lovers because The Dark Room has the same fast narrative and remarkable plot like movies such as Unforgettable and Obsessed and many more thriller/passionate movies!
Natalie Banks is an author whose literature I admire; one quality I admire about Banks is the fact that she is brazen with her writing. A lot of authors shy away from affairs in literature, so I applaud Banks for being brave and writing a sensational book on a somewhat taboo subject. This shows us readers that Banks is a risk taker and an author who is prepared to take risks for the pleasure and entertainment of her readers; this is a quality I admire in an author, so it is safe to say that Banks will always have a reader in me now!
Not only is Banks a phenomenal author for being bold with her literature but she also is thanks to the creation of her unique story and her development of it that flowed beautifully throughout. The story is most undoubtedly unique thanks to the events that unfold, but it is also breathtaking as well as entertaining. Banks ensures from beginning to end that her readers are entertained, and she does this by lacing twists and turns throughout her book as well as shocking her readers with her daring literature!
