Sacrifice of Ericc, Anthony Wedgeworth

Action & Adventure, Fantasy, Literature & Fiction, Magic & Sword and Sorcery, Middle Grade Fiction, Myth's & Legends, Teen & Young Adult

The Oracle’s prophecy states that the sons of the Brothers of War will fight to the death. One of these sons has trained his entire life for this day. Learning to manipulate the powers of light and darkness, he lays devastation to all life in his path. He is ready for the Eve of Light and the end to the curse upon them.

The other son, Ericc, was hidden away from society and the prophecy in hopes to keep him safe. However, his tenacity for adventuring beyond the restrictions that protect him lead him right to an enemy he knows nothing about.

A friend of Ericc’s father, Thorik Dain, is sent to save the young man before he is captured. But once Ericc discovers that his father has been murdered by his uncle, he leaves Thorik and charges into the very location the legends foresaw him to fight to the death.
Now, Thorik and his friends must risk their own lives to prevent the sacrifice that fables had spoken of during the Eve of Light.

A short while ago I read and reviewed a marvelous book called Fate of Thorik which is written by the equally remarkable author, Anthony G. Wedgeworth. The story is a bewitching one full of breathtaking events and beings that will have the readers mind full of wonder. The story was so radiant that upon finishing it, I immediately started reading the sequel, Sacrifice of Ericc. I should mention at this point in my review that although Sacrifice of Ericc is book two in the series, it could be read as a stand-alone but if you are a reader who, like me, loves to have the full story and know the ins and outs than do read Fate of Thorik before because the first book perfectly sets up the landscape for readers to get lost in.

Before I let you lovely readers know about the premise of Sacrifice of Ericc, I first want to remind you of the plot of book one Fate of Thorik. In Fate of Throik the reader will be introduced to the star of the novel, Thorik. Thorik is sixteen years old, but he has experienced more than the average person of his age because his parents have sadly passed but luckily he has a carer… his uncle. One day upon a journey Thorik discovers an injured and unconscious man and feeling the innate sense of goodness within him, he decides to help him and bring him back to his home. What Thorik does not know is that the man he has rescued is in fact significant. The man is called Ambrosius, and well, he is a central character to the story and he and Thorik go on a journey together, one that could change everything and this book lovers is the premise of book one.

My discussion of Sacrifice of Ericc is going to have mild spoilers for book one so if you do not want book one Fate of Thorik to be spoiled then stop skip this chapter. The reader in Sacrifice of Ericc will once again be reunited with Thorik, Thorik is recovering from the death of Ambrosius, but he can’t dwell for too long because he made a promise. Thorik promised Ambrosius that he would find and help his son Ericc and protect him from Lord Darkmere. The reader will follow Thorik on his journey to do just this, and this book lovers is the premise of book two.

The story laced throughout Sacrifice of Ericc is pure fantasy and will send fantasy fans wild because the fantasy laced throughout the book is mesmerizing. The journey the reader encounters in Sacrifice of Ericc is just as brilliant, If not more brilliant than the journey in book one Fate of Thorik and I will explain why. I loved the story in Fate of Thorik, so much so that I awarded it five stars! But Fate of Thorik is the first book in the series so of course, it features heavily on plot and world development which I must add was dazzling! My point is that in Sacrifice of Ericc the world is already established by the incredible author Anthony G. Wedgeworth, so now Wedgeworth has free reign, he is able to expand on the book even more and go crazy with plot ideas, characters and magical beings and that is why I feel that I loved Sacrifice of Ericc just that bit more because the world is established and the journey thrilling!

Anthony G. Wedgeworth is seriously an insanely good fantasy writer because he knows what to write to entertain and keep his readers thrilled until the very end. Wedgeworth has many strong writing abilities but his core talent has to be that of world development. The development of the story in Sacrifice of Ericc is breathtaking because the world the reader encounters in the first book is expanded on even more. I admit I was shocked by this because I did not believe it could be because the world was so flawlessly and immaculately developed in book one but Wedgeworth surprised me and expanded on the story even more and that deserves a round of applause.

As Sacrifice of Ericc is a fascinating, mesmerizing and riveting story that should not be missed, I, of course, have to award the stellar read a magical five stars!

Thank you so much for the wonderful review of my 2nd book in the series. I strive very hard to have each one stand alone while also adding value to the overall series as well as intertwining with the other series. By the end of April there will be two full series completed (6 books per series), and 2 more series stared with 1 book each. All of these stories are in the same realm and follow a different character. The Nums of Shoreview series is a middle-grade reader book series with larger fonts and illustrations. This is for kids… Read more »
