Return of the Convict, William Alan Thomas

Action & Adventure, Dystopian & Post Apocalyptic, Literature & Fiction, Military Fiction, Science Fiction & Space Opera

It’s March 9, 2143. In the aftermath of wars, plagues, and environmental breakdown, there’s growing hope. Humans have colonized the solar system and now they’re looking to the stars.

Thanks to extensive brain implants, space cadet Dom Tessier enjoys a perfect memory. In another year he’s to be fully transformed and join the world-wide technocracy. He and his girlfriend Astra Allison practice telepathy together and attain new heights.

Unbeknownst to Dom, his upbringing and education have been provided for by his parent clone, Lucas Rivera, a diseased convict who’s now returned from Martian exile.

Dom’s brain implants offer Lucas the chance for a life-saving mind merger, and he intends to make that happen.

Meeting Lucas is a real shock for Dom. Lucas is uncultured, and no stranger to vice. Worst of all, he’s a convicted criminal. Can Dom overcome his prejudices, and embrace the one who’s given him everything? Or will he coldly let Lucas die?

Return of the Convict is one of the most brilliant dystopian science fiction novels that I have ever had the pleasure of reading. Return of the Convict is a novel that is guaranteed to shock as well as thrill and excite its readers with the story’s action-packed moments and compelling moments that will stick in readers minds for a long time. Return of the Convict is a story that captivated me from the premise alone, I adore dystopian novels so this is no surprise, but I love when a dystopian novel looks to the stars and is based in a future in which humanity has destroyed its own self. That is a bold statement I understand, but I adore literature that explores war, natural disasters and so on because that is what is currently happening so to read a realistic dystopian novel mixed with some fantastic science fiction is a dream! Return of the Convict is a book I am obsessed with so already I am going to recommend this bewitching novel to you lovely readers but if you need more convincing then continue to read to find out more about this incredible book!

Return of the Convict is a multi-layered novel with a thick plot that will draw you in and keep you captive until the very end. Return of the Convict is set in the year 2143, and the world has changed drastically; plagues as well as ‘enviromental breakdown’ and so this has forced humanity to look to the stars, and there is soon hope because humans have colonized the solar system. The colonization and a ‘second chance’ is the premise of Return of the Convict; however, the novel actually follows the protagonist and star of the book, Dom Tessier, a space cadet who has undergone revolutionary treatment which involves a brain implant that leaves Dom with immaculate memory. I do not want to spoil the novel book lovers so I will be careful about what I write next but Dom will soon encounter a man called Lucas who is an ex-convict, and this meeting will change the novel as well as Dom and his outlook on life. What follows is an intriguing, thrilling, exciting adventure and so I implore all of you lovely readers to read this book!

The story of Return of the Convict captivated me from the first page thanks to the books sharp literature and strong opening. The reader thanks to the exceptional author William Thomas will be thrust into the action early on thanks to Thomas’s fast-paced narrative. The fast-paced narrative combined with the extraordinary story had me in a frenzy and turning the pages with haste, and when a reader does this, then they know that the book is good and worthy of a recommendation!

William Thomas is not only a phenomenal writer for his flawless ability to capture his reader’s attention, but he is also a great writer for his descriptive powers and characterization of characters which will hook his readers.

Overall Return of the Convict is a sensational, thrilling as well as chilling story that will provoke your thoughts of the future as well as entertain you and so I have no choice but to award this stellar read five stars. If you are a reader who loves dystopian novels and thrillers that feature a new hope and science fiction elements, then this book is for you so do not miss out on the chance of reading it!

Should a novelist’s painstaking work provide enjoyment for readers such as Aimee Ann, then mission accomplished! Return of the Convict is available on Amazon, Smashwords and Kobo. CreateSpace did a great job on the paperback, and the cover is a work of art. The ebook is the best deal; right now it’s marked down to 99 cents US. Until Aimee Ann’s review I’d never considered Return of the Convict as “dystopian” science fiction but it’s quite a useful description. Any clear-headed person looking to the future, sees very rough seas ahead. In some areas though, one can remain optimistic. (There… Read more »
