Friendship, perseverance, and the power of belief shine in this novel about a girl trying to stay connected to her late mother.

While living in Paris, Ellie Kerr’s mom penned a series of children’s stories, yet sadly died before they could be published.

Once Ellie and her father return to the US, the twelve-year-old decides to finish what her mother could not. When Ellie is mysteriously blocked by a password on her mother’s computer, she becomes determined to find the truth — even though four failed attempts will destroy the computer’s data, including her mom’s stories!

Ellie’s father thinks that the code is unbreakable, but Ellie believes that her mother might have left a posthumous message in the new password. With the help of friends, Ellie tries to crack the code, publish the books, and ultimately honor her mother.

Posthumous is a captivating, memorable and incredibly entertaining young adult book that will easily delight and entertain young readers from start to finish. Posthumous is an incredible book that is unique thanks to its story; however, I adored this! Too many young adult books these days are generic and not original, so I welcome originality and cherish this unique story with an adorable story at the heart of it! As a mother, I love to recommend books to fellow parents and guardians, and Posthumous definitely has my approval thanks to its heartwarming and poignant moments and exciting story! However, although Posthumous is aimed at young adults, it can easily be read and enjoyed by adults thanks to its sensational and incredibly entertaining story. Already I would recommend this book to all readers but if you are not convinced just yet then read the rest of my review to find out more about this dazzling book!

Posthumous is a poignant and moving story that will introduce the reader to the young protagonist of the novel, Ellie. Ellie Kerr’s mother has sadly passed away but before she did she penned a series of children’s stories, stories that Ellie is desperate to get her hands on. So when Ellie returns to the US from Paris with her father, she decides to try and get access to the stories by trying to find the password to access the stories. The journey will not be easy, and so Ellie enlists the help of her close friends, and this book lovers is the premise of the sensational novel that is Posthumous.

Never before have I read a YA book quite like this one and I am going to type a bold statement, but this is by far the best YA/children books I have ever read. I understand that this statement is bold but I have read a lot of children books of books with a similar nature and although many of them are fantastic, they were missing something for me. Posthumous, however, has everything I wanted and so much more. It has excellent writing, poignant moments, action-packed scenes to keep children entertained and a great in-depth look at a tragic event and how it can affect you.

The story of Posthumous was exceptional and has blown me away. I had such high expectations for the book, especially since when I read the description so you can imagine my surprise as well as my delight when I found that my expectations were exceeded! Yes, book lovers, the phenomenal author Paul Aertker managed to impress me more than I could ever have imagined. Aertker has injected an abundance of energy into the novel and wow does it thrill and excite you but also move you!

Paul Aertker is a genius, I know this is a bold statement, but it is true; the fact that he has incorporated the poignant themes of death and grief and weaved it with entertaining themes make him a genius writer. Authors, in general, are incredible because they can reach so many people in the world and the fact that this book will reach many children makes me a happy parent as all children need to have the pleasure of reading this book and to learn about the topics explored.

Paul Aertker is not only an excellent writer for the themes he explores throughout his story, but he is also brilliant thanks to his stunning literature. The vivid descriptions courtesy of Aertker are beautiful and will dazzle and captivate young minds; the descriptions, especially of the adventure at the heart of the story is magnificent and will have young readers thinking vividly, and this is a hard talent to accomplish with a children’s/YA book.

Overall Posthumous is an incredible, moving and exciting novel that is guaranteed to entertain and thrill children and young adults for many hours and so I have no choice but to award this exceptional tale five stars! So please do have a  read of the preview below book lovers, you will not regret it!
