Last Goodbye: A Story of Love, Loss and One Girl’s Fate is a poignant, compelling and memorable novel that will take readers on an incredibly moving journey all while entertaining the reader in many ways. Last Goodbye is a sensational novel written by the superb Laurel Ostiguy and is a book that is the definition of contemporary fiction. I admit that I was hooked on this book before I even started to read it, the description of the book managed to intrigue me straight away and ever since reading it I knew I had to get lost in the story of Last Goodbye. Last Goodbye is an incredible novel that charmed, shocked, and thrilled me with its multiple themes and plot avenues and already I would implore you lovely readers to have a read of this book! It has to be one of the best contemporary fiction novels of the year so do not miss out on the magnificent book!

Last Goodbye is a unique book that will introduce the reader to the protagonist of the novel, Abigail Prince but before we introduce you to Abigail, we first have to introduce you to Jonathan Higgins. Jonathan, on his deathbed, confides in his friend about a girl he should have been with and on the night of his death, Abigail suffers from an unexplainable seizure and feels an overwhelming sense of loss and love all in one go. The reader from this point onwards will follow Abigail as she starts college and during this time she meets two men who both love her but who one of them is holding a secret, one that would destroy her. What follows is a moving and poignant story full of many ups and downs and a story that you will not be able to forget for a long time.

The story of Last Goodbye is a profoundly moving one with many profound themes laced throughout the book. I admit that I was guilty of assuming from the description that Last Goodbye would be a cliché novel but when I started to read it I knew full well that this book was not that kind of read. Instead, Last Goodbye is a poignant novel full of powerful themes which are all excellently explored and weaved well together by the phenomenal author Laurel Ostiguy. Last Goodbye, in my opinion, is a profoundly moving novel with many poignant themes. The profoundness of the story will move its readers, and this is the pure talent of Ostiguy’s literature. From the start I was captivated once again by Ostiguy’s glorious descriptions, the descriptions made me feel as if I was right in the story and that was such an incredible feeling.

Laurel Ostiguy is an incredible author who has managed to transfix and entertain me with her beautiful literature. I am impressed by the amount of depth Ostiguy has managed to lace throughout her book. Ostiguy ensures throughout her book that her readers are entertained and thrilled from beginning to end, and Ostiguy does this by weaving twists and turns throughout her book which yes, are incredibly entertaining! As well as this Ostiguy flawlessly weaves brilliant characterization and development of her characters that will keep the readers turning the pages from beginning to end.

Ostiguy is an exceptional author for many reasons, but one of the primary attributes I love about her writing is the characterization of the characters the reader comes across in the book; specifically Abigail Prince. Abigail is a young woman who is just starting her life and to watch her develop and change with the story was genuinely incredible as I love books that feature a character study.

Overall Last Goodbye is an extraordinary story that will entertain and thrill readers from beginning to end so I, of course, have to award the book five stars! It would be criminal not to. So please book lovers, have a read of the excellent book and get lost in an engrossing, captivating story, you will not regret it!
