RED HEADED BOOK LOVER

Kaitlin’s Mooring, Carey V. Azzara

Family Saga, Literature & Fiction, Women's Fiction

Nothing is more horrific than losing a child, nothing more joyous than the birth of one. When grief intertwines with joy, it throws the Deveau family into turmoil.

Pregnant twenty-year-old Kaitlin Deveau leaves Boston University in a hurry when Henry, her grandfather, calls from Maine with devastating news. Bereft of hope, Kaitlin’s son, Christopher, becomes a life preserver, keeping the family buoyant. Henry, now Chris’s only male role model, teaches him lessons he uses throughout life. In the end, Chris and his adopted sister, Susan, must save their parents from the fate that took his grandparents—but the outcome is uncertain.

Kaitlin’s Mooring is a stunning piece of literature that enthralled, entertained and enchanted me from the very first page! Everything about this contemporary piece of fiction was incredible; the characters, as well as the beautiful setting of Maine and the other places the reader gets to experience and the phenomenal literature courtesy of the excellent author Carey V. Azzara, made me fall madly in love with this book. Kaitlin’s Mooring is a piece of fiction that will captivate readers from all genres thanks to the many themes that are interwoven between the pages. The themes explored throughout the book are of a hard-hitting and poignant nature, but this should not deter you from reading the book because the story is so much more than a story of loss and is, in fact, a story of hope too and so it really should not be missed.

Kaitlin’s Mooring is an emotional read that deals with loss but it is also a story of hope, and its beautiful, poignant story will stay in your memory for a long time after finishing it. Kaitlin’s Mooring will introduce the reader to many characters, but one of the core characters is Kaitlin Deveau, a pregnant twenty-year-old who while in Boston, receives a call from her grandfather Henry who has some terrible news. This leads Kaitlin to pack up and return to Maine and it is here, with the help of Kaitlin’s son Christopher, that Kaitlin and the rest of the Deveau family begin to heal. Henry becomes one of the leading figures in the family, and he takes Chris under his wing and teaches him many life lessons. However, the story develops further, and soon Chris, as well as his adopter sister Susan, will have to save their parents due to something and this book lovers is the premise of this emotionally charged and captivating novel.

The story of Kaitlin’s Mooring is one that should be a movie, I write this because the story is so wonderfully developed that it plays out in your head like a movie so it would be incredible to see this on the big screen one day. Kaitlin’s Mooring has all the components which make not only a great film but of course a great book. The story is full of enigmatic characters with distinct personalities who perfectly propel the story, and the book is also full of flawless literature that will delight, excite and engross its readers for many hours.

The story that unfolds throughout Kaitlin’s Mooring is a profoundly moving one with many profound themes laced throughout the book. I admit that I was guilty of assuming from the description that Kaitlin’s Mooring would be too hard-hitting to read but when I started to read it I knew full well that this book was not that kind of read. Instead, Kaitlin’s Mooring is a poignant novel full of powerful and even inspiring themes which are all excellently explored and weaved well together by the phenomenal author Carey V. Azzara.

Carey V. Azzara is the exceptional author of Kaitlin’s Mooring and I admit, I am gutted that I have not discovered his work sooner! Kaitlin’s Mooring is the perfect read for me as books such as this one make for the perfect escape. Azzara knows how to flawlessly transport his reader into the story as well as to Maine (which is one of my favorite places of all time!) because his descriptions are glorious and will correctly paint a picture of the isolated but beautiful landscape.

When I began to read Kaitlin’s Mooring I was instantly impressed by the amount of depth and plot layers in the story. Azzara has managed to write a notable book that is full of many themes and many memorable moments; Azzara wonderfully takes the reader on a journey through a traumatic moment within a family and although this was upsetting it is also necessary to read about because events like the one in the book do happen and so it is essential to read about. Not only is Carey V. Azzara fantastic for developing such a brilliant story but he is also magnificent for his poignant moments and the characterization of his characters. I particularly loved the characterization of Kaitlin because Azzara writes her role in an honest way in which all women will be able to relate to her. Kaitlin’s character is realistic and brazen with her thoughts and feelings, and the reader won’t be able to resist falling in love and sympathizing with her thanks to her likability.

To summarize my thoughts on the compelling novel that is Kaitlin’s Mooring; I would say if you are a reader who is tired of reading the same old books that are lackluster and forgettable then take a chance with this one because I promise you now that you will not be disappointed! It is an extraordinary piece of contemporary fiction that will take you on a memorable and unforgettable journey that should not be missed, and so I have to award Kaitlin’s Mooring five stars!

Ann, Thank you for your glowing review, I hope your readers enjoy the book as much as you did. As you know the book is available on Amazon and B&N. A number of readers asked what was the inspiration behind your book. Some years ago while attending a conference for authors in ME. A woman I met told me a story about her son and her grandfather – her son’s great grandfather. Without going into detail her story resonated with me and is the kernel for the book.
