RED HEADED BOOK LOVER

Incest, Murder and a Miracle, Cheryl and Robert Cuccio written with Morgan St. James

Abuse & Substance Abuse, Memoir & Biography, NonFiction, True Story & True Crime

The name Cheryl Pierson was in national media for years in articles and more filled with assumptions and fabrications surrounding the murder-for-hire of her father, but her side of the story was never truly covered from her perspective. The one interview she did give to a reporter was while she was still in shock from what had transpired.

Now, after thirty years, Cheryl has come out of the shadows to tell her true story–what really happened behind the doors at 293 Magnolia Drive, and what the life she and Rob have shared has been like. As seen on Investigation Discovery Channel: I, Witness series.

In 1986 Cheryl Pierson was a sixteen-year-old abuse and incest victim. Day after day her father placed the fear in her no one would believe her if she revealed their dirty secret. But Cheryl had made a promise to her mother, as she lay in her coffin, to protect her eight-year-old sister from the monster Cheryl’s father had become. To honor this promise and end the daily hell she endured, the distraught teenager hired a classmate to murder her father.

She is a strong survivor and hopes to inspire courage in those who walk in her shoes and to promote abuse and incest awareness with this book. That strength was called into action in 2012 and the result was a miracle!

Incest, Murder and a Miracle is a profound, moving and shocking true story which takes the readers behind the scenes of a notorious case that will be cemented in many people’s minds. Incest, Murder and a Miracle is a memoir written by Cheryl Cuccio with her husband Robert and with author Morgan St. James and will give the readers insight into what happened back in the 1980’s and what the real version of events was. Cheryl Cuccio (aka as Cheryl Pierson) describes in the description that her story has never truly been told and that the interview she did do was when she was still in a great amount of shock from the events that unfolded. Cheryl is now ready to tell her story with her husband, and the story is a shocking but a mostly inspiring one that will give readers who are struggling the hope to carry on as well as inform readers on topics such as abuse and incest.

Incest, Murder and a Miracle is the true story of Cheryl and Robert Cuccio, and together they tell the story of what happened back in the 1980’s. Cheryl from a young age experienced hardships, and this began when her mother was taken ill; this alone is hard enough for a young girl but what made the time even more difficult was that her father began to molest her.

In the beginning, her father would be more touchy but it soon escalated, and Cheryl became a victim who saw no way out of the horrible situation she was in. When Cheryl’s mother sadly passed away the abuse became even worse, but luckily, her wonderful husband was there to help her. When Cheryl met Robert they instantly fell for each other, and it is clear to the reader very early on that Robert was and still is infatuated with his wife which I must say is lovely and incredibly heartwarming. The pair soon grew closer to each other, but when Robert was introduced to Cheryl’s father, he noticed that something was off about the situation. Robert soon realized that something was going on between Cheryl and her father and after a lengthy and emotional discussion Cheryl finally told Robert. Robert, despite knowing about what had happened decided that no matter what he would be with Cheryl for forever and as I am a true romantic, this made me want to cry, I thought this was lovely, and the two are clearly soulmates.

Cheryl, finding love and growing up meant that she needed to be out of the situation more than ever and away from her father but she also needed to get her younger sister out before her father’s affections turned to her. Cheryl, one day after hearing about a news story that involved money for murder, started thinking about having her father killed so that she and her sister could finally be away from him. One day at school she discusses a plot with a classmate about having her father murdered and what unfolds is a shocking ordeal, and this book lovers is the premise of the story. I just noticed in my review book lovers that I have gone quite in-depth with Cheryl’s story so I have decided to leave the events from the classroom onwards a secret so please do read the book to find out what happens next!

Cheryl’s story is heart-breaking, and anybody will be able to feel for Cheryl and what she went through. The abuse she endured is the worst kind imaginable, but I do not believe the abuse defines Cheryl. Cheryl is a survivor, and she is surviving thanks to her exceptional ability to keep moving forward despite everything she has endured. The media pounced on Cheryl and her case and she even received backlash from her family but despite this, she has continued moving forward, and that is the message readers should take away from the story.

Cheryl is an inspirational woman, and I believe all readers should take note of her character and try to apply the same attributes to their everyday life. Robert is equally fantastic, and I really admire how he features heavily in the story because after all, he is a core factor in the events that unraveled. Robert’s connection to his wife Cheryl is utterly beautiful, and I love how despite everything that happened they managed to stay together and have a beautiful family. The fact that they were able to accomplish this is a true testament to their characters and their love.

In my review so far I have focused on the story and Cheryl and Robert, but I have not focused on the writing yet so that is what I will write about now for you lovely readers. The writing throughout the book is sensational, I am actually incredibly impressed by how well written the memoir is and how it managed to capture my attention from the start and keep me hooked until the very end. The sensitive approach to the story combined with brutally honest moments was a breath of fresh air and ensured that I was hooked from the start.

As Incest, Murder and a Miracle is a moving, inspirational and informative book that will inspire as well as move its readers with the poignant themes explored, I, of course, have to award the poignant book five stars! So please book lovers, do have a read of Incest, Murder, and a Miracle and find out what truly happened.

Thank you so much Aimee Ann for this review. The reason we decided to write this book after all these years is because I was able to realize I finally had the strenght to tell my true story and let others know that any kind of abuse does not have to define the rest of your life and is never your fault. It took me a long time to realize this and to be able to put the shame on my father and not on myself . That I carried his dirty secret all those years not my secret .… Read more »
