This charming new children’s story by award-winning author Sherry Ellis won’t just entertain kids with its hilarious descriptions and zany main character. It will also educate them about the alphabet and help them learn the order of letters. As the elephant works his way through foodstuffs, each new dish features a new letter of the alphabet. From animal crackers to zebra cakes, the elephant is enthusiastic to gobble everything up, even when it lands him in hot water!
The narrator starts off by warning the readers that you should never, ever feed the elephant, even if he says, “Pretty please with sugar on top!” Everything the elephant eats just ends up turning into a huge mess. He’ll give you gooey chocolate kisses after eating brownies, fire animal crackers out of his trunk, and juggle eggs and French fries at the same time. The elephant is more interested in throwing hamburgers like Frisbees and using noodles as jump ropes than having a proper meal. You can’t stay mad at him for too long, however. His adorable antics will entertain both you and all the little elephants you share them with!
Don’t Feed the Elephant is a children’s book I was desperate to read ever since reading Bubba and Squirt’s Big Dig to China – a book my children loved! So, of course, I wanted my children to read more books by Ellis, and that is how I discovered the wonderful Don’t Feed the Elephant! Now and then a parent will come across that one book that blows them away, it is a somewhat generic term, but that is what Don’t Feed the Elephant did to me even though it is a book for children because its entertaining as well as educational and that is a parent’s dream come true! That is why I am already going to recommend Don’t Feed the Elephant to you lovely readers, and yes, it may be early on in my review but Don’t Feed the Elephant is a book not to be missed!
Don’t Feed the Elephant for my children was captivating and addictive right from the start and them, and even I, felt this from beginning to end. Don’t Feed the Elephant was captivating to me from the start thanks to the unique premise of the story and the literature courtesy of the author, Sherry Ellis who from the start hooked me with her unique story that was unlike any children book I have read before. It is rare to find a children’s novel that is refreshing, and it is even more challenging to discover a children’s story that is educational as well as incredibly entertaining, so I truly do love Don’t Feed the Elephant!
Don’t Feed the Elephant is an incredible book written by the talented Sherry Ellis and in her book, she will introduce young readers to an adorable Elephant, who loves food! As the elephant works his way through mountains of food, each new food item/dish will educate the reader in terms of alphabetically. So as the reader reads about the elephant and the food he eats (and the mess he creates!), the reader will learn the alphabet, and this is the premise of the incredible Don’t Feed the Elephant!
The premise of Don’t Feed the Elephant is exceptional and original. I loved the many themes and elements explored throughout the book, and all themes are explored by Shery Ellis wonderfully, and she does this by lacing entertaining and educational themes throughout the text flawlessly and weaving them with the story. The result of this makes Don’t Feed the Elephant a highly addictive and fascinating read that is never once lackluster!
Sherry Ellis is a phenomenal writer who knows how to grasp her young reader’s attention from the first page. Sherry Ellis is not only a brilliant writer for her ability to captivate the reader’s attention straight away, but she is also an excellent author for her ability to lace education with pure enjoyment, and this genuinely impressed me! The combination of this and Sherry Ellis’s hilarious descriptions will immerse the reader in the story and make them be able to visualize every detail, no matter how small.
Overall Don’t Feed the Elephant is a compelling, fun and memorable children’s book that is not only entertaining but also educational and so it should not be missed! Don’t Feed the Elephant gets five stars from me book lovers so do not miss out!
