Author Spotlight

Hello book lovers! Today is a day where I will be writing another author spotlight for a well-accomplished author whose work I have loved. As you know book lovers I love learning about authors and the inspiration behind their work, it fascinates me and adds to the depth of the book because the reader will be able to better understand it. That is how the author spotlights were created because I soon discovered that you lovely readers ALSO love learning about author’s, so I am excited to tell you a little bit more about author David Medhurst whose book Andy’s Dandy Day charmed my children and even me from beginning to end. With today’s author spotlight for David Medhurst, a biography of the author and an interview between me and David will be shared, and I hope that you book lovers enjoy reading it! To kick this off here is an author bio about the wonderful David Medhurst!

David Medhurst is a Writer, Illustrator, Animator and Instructor who has been involved in many creative endeavours throughout his professional career. One of five children, David comes from a very creative background with both of his parents being musicians as well as one elder brother being an Examiner with the Royal Conservatory of Music, and another a published poet and brilliant photographer. Residing in Ontario Canada, David and his wife of many years Rosa are parents to one son who expresses his own creative talents through music. Citing A.A. Milne and J.M. Barry as influences, it is not surprising that David manages to tap into his inner child to write and illustrate beautiful stories that appeal to everyone of any age.

Now, how wonderful does David sound?! David is a truly exceptional writer and I hope that you lovely readers have a read of David’s work because you will not regret it! Please see below an interview between me and David, I hope that you enjoy David’s answers to my questions, they are incredible

In your own words could you please tell us about your book and what inspired you to write your book?

Andy’s Dandy Day is about a young bunny who is faced with the challenge of finding something to do on a beautiful sunny day. The story is filled with fun and playful characters throughout and is written for the young and the young at heart. I love a good story. Always have. A good story will open the imagination and help create other stories. I remember the weekly trips to the library with my Grandpa and the joy I would get from choosing a new book, a new story. I think that is where my own  stories first began and that is where my inspiration comes from. I hope I am able to bring that kind of pleasure to others, and maybe inspire some new stories as well.

If you could tell your younger writing self-anything, what would it be?

Don’t wait or hesitate. Make your dreams a reality.

In your opinion, what is the most important thing about a book?

The most important thing about a book, especially one in this genre, is to leave the reader (or listener) happier once the story is told.

Lastly, when can we readers expect to read more wonderful books from you?

My next book, “Tommy’s House” will be out by the end of June 2018… maybe even much sooner!
