RED HEADED BOOK LOVER

Crucible of a Species, Terrence Zavecz

Action & Adventure, Literature & Fiction, Science Fiction & Space Opera, Time Travel Fiction

COLONEL DANIEL DRAKE successfully led the greatest scientific effort since the Manhattan Project. Now they enter the final phase and Drake takes command — Earth’s first interstellar expedition. Politics, funding, rivalries and terrorism plague the project and threaten its completion. The colonel heartlessly drives his people to a successful launch only to have disaster strike before they exit the solar system.

Their ship crashes into the Red Spot of Jupiter, those who survive find themselves in a universe abnormally quiet and subtly different. Limping back to port they discover an unrecognizable but beautiful and violent world occupied by strange animals Drake’s scientists insist are dinosaurs.

Drake must lead them through starvation, sabotage, murder, and mutiny while repairing their ship and enduring a vicious world on a mission where more than their lives depend on their survival for the mysterious aliens, those who gave them starship technology, delivered it with a deadline and an ominous threat, “Do not be late”.

Crucible of a Species is a phenomenal book and as I begin to write my review I still find myself shocked at the brilliance of this book and its wonderful story that kept me up reading for many nights! Crucible of a Species is what I would class as the most perfect science fiction/time travel read ever written. The adventure and action combined with the time travel element make Crucible of a Species a fantastic book which will stand out amongst the crowded genre of science fiction.

Crucible of a Species is a unique book that is unlike anything I have read before. It tells the tale of Colonel Daniel Drake and his team as they embark on a dangerous but essential expedition to leave the galaxy to another called Tau Ceti where a strange alien species resides. However, intergalactic space travel is not easy, and soon Colonel Daniel Drake and his team find themselves crashing into the red spot of Jupiter to find that they have returned to Earth…. Ninty ninty million years in the past. Drake and his team must survive the harsh climate of the earth and battle their way to survive against many beings… including dinosaurs. The journey they take will be treacherous but it is brilliant and so Crucible of a Species indeed is the most perfect science fiction read, one that I implore all of you lovely readers to read!

The story of Crucible of a Species is unlike anything I have read or even heard of. It has been a long time since I have read a book that involves time travel and dinosaurs, and I believe this is because there are hardly no books that feature these themes! That is why Terrence Zavecz is a genius for spotting a gap in the market and for thinking of an incredible adventure-packed story that will entertain readers for days on end. The themes of prehistoric creatures, combined with aliens, intergalactic travel and survival are themes that should not work well together however they do and wonderfully so. I found myself gripped from the moment I picked this book up and this is thanks to the exceptional author, Terrence Zavecz.

Terrence Zavecz is not only a genius for bringing such a unique and entertaining story to life but also a master wordsmith as his words feel as if they are pumped with adrenaline because the text in this book is gripping as hell and will have you turning the pages frantically! Zavecz’s descriptive sentences are enough to send the mind into overdrive; I found myself easily being able to imagine every fine detail in Crucible of a Species thanks to how impeccably Zavecz described and developed his story.

As I am a huge fan of Crucible of a Species and adore its unique but thrilling nature, I have no choice but to award this stunning piece of fiction a thrilling Five Stars! So please book lovers, take a chance on this incredible book as you will not regret it!

As of this writing, I just received Aimee Ann’s published review of my novel “Crucible of a Species” and was pleasantly surprised by the level of praise lavished by her on the novel. I immediately wrote back to her, questioning the validity of the review. After all, it’s not often that descriptions of one’s work include the accolade of ‘genius’ and I’ve known myself for years. Aimee courteously replied by asking me to contribute a bit of the story’s background in the blog commentary. “Crucible” is a the first of a series and there is a fair amount of pain… Read more »

Thank you, Aimee Ann. There’s perhaps one thing I feel I should mention about my writing whether it be Sci-Fi or Historic Fiction. I attempt to stay as close to real science and true history as possible in my stories. However, my primary focus is to provide a good story that you will enjoy without being bored by a lecture on science or history. I’m a firm believer that we learn from life’s experiences and that schooling only provides the tools needed to follow your goals in life. So, all of you who perhaps dread those days spent listening to… Read more »
