Creole Moon: Book of Roots is book two in the Creole Moon series written by the exceptionally talented author S.T. Holmes and wow what a novel! When I discovered Creole Moon and read about gods and goddesses, magic and New Orleans, I was hooked because this for me is the perfect combination. I love anything based in New Orleans, it is full of rich history, and so it is a smart move for Holmes to base the story in such an exceptional place. Creole Moon can only be described as a remarkable and intriguing fantasy adventure that is guaranteed to keep readers captivated thanks to the exciting journey and keep readers turning the pages with haste thanks to the razor-sharp prose. Creole Moon will take its readers on an exceptional journey, one that is full of exciting events and beautiful descriptions and so I already have to recommend the novel to you, but if you need more convincing, then please read the rest of my review to learn more about this gem of a book.

Creole Moon: Book of Roots is an in-depth novel with many layers and much back story so I will try my best book lovers to simplify it for all of you! The story is based in New Orleans days before the Mardi Gras event. Mamuska is a voodoo priest and he wants to go back to New Orleans during the Mardi Gras event to take advantage of the heightened magic so that he can possess another soul and return. Mamuska wants to take his wife Ophelia; however, the many goddesses and even demigods do not allow it as she can’t be trusted. The serpent Goddess sees darkness within Ophelia, and so she forbids Mamuska to take her with him; however, he wants to bring his love, and this adds another layer of depth to an already sensational story. The reader will follow Mamuska on his journey back to the swamp and on his journey to possess another soul but his journey will not be easy because the reader will be introduced to the protagonist of the novel, George, who is out for revenge and this book lovers is the premise of the exciting and dramatic novel that is Creole Moon: Book of Roots.

The story of Creole Moon is a tremendous one that is full of a significant amount of detail and glorious descriptions courtesy of the excellent author S.T. Holmes who from the start will captivate her readers with her well-developed world. I have not read the first book in the Creole Moon series so a part of me was afraid I would have missed the development of the places the reader encounters but Holmes in her second book ensures that no reader is left behind and perfectly guides them through the places the reader must have experienced in the first book and I really appreciate this attribute about the book.

I confess that S.T. Holmes is fast becoming a new favorite author of mine thanks to her excellent plot development and her unique story that she has so wonderfully developed. The story Holmes has managed to create is out of this world and the places the reader encounters will charm as well as fascinate readers. As I read Creole Moon I kept being surprised by the unpredictable plot because from the beginning Holmes ensures that her story will never be predictable; instead, Holmes’s story is unpredictable and that makes the read so thrilling!

Overall Creole Moon: Book of Roots is a remarkable, unforgettable, and original novel that will compel and captivate readers from the start thanks to the incredible plot development, enigmatic characters and superb and mesmerizing descriptions so of course, I have to award this astonishing book five stars! So please book lovers, do have a read of Creole Moon: Book of Roots and also have a look at the first book! You will not regret it.

What a wonderful Mother’s Day gift. I couldn’t have asked for a better one than this great review of my book. I was a bit worried about whether this book stacked up to the first one in the series, Creole Moon The Betrayal, as it received so many excellent ratings and reviews. Doubt and wavering self confidence was definitely getting the better of me. I wasn’t sure I could produce another book equal to or better than the first one. So far, I have received a number of 5 stars rating from the Readers Favorite website and this one just… Read more »
