The Lord Protector puts into motion events that will pit those who would protect the realm against those that would seize control over the minds and bodies of its citizens. Will Arbor will find unexpected allies as he struggles to understand the balance of magyc and where he fits into Gaea’s plans.

A speculative fiction series that explores the strength of reason, and the beauty of nature. Will Arbor, a young man ripped from his family, has raised himself in the wild and discovered his talents and a deep love of harmony and nature. He captures the joy of his journey to discover truths and his own strength in the face of adversity. Return to Turgany County and the realm of Belkin. A quiet land quickly descending into chaos and turmoil.

A short while ago I read and reviewed a marvelous book called Duilleog which is written by the equally remarkable author, Donald D. Allan. The story is a bewitching one full of breathtaking events and beings that will have the readers mind full of wonder. The story was so radiant that upon finishing it, I immediately started reading the sequel, Craobh. I should mention at this point in my review that although Craobh is book two in the series, it could be read as a stand-alone but if you are a reader who, like me, loves to have the full story and know the ins and outs than do read Duilleog before because the first book perfectly sets up the landscape for readers to get lost in.

Before I let you lovely readers know more about Craobh, I think it is only right that I share more about the first book Duilleog! So I have attached a snippet of my review that will introduce you to this wonderful series.

“Duilleog is an incredible story that will take its readers on a memorable and entertaining journey full of many highs and lows. The reader will be taken on a journey and will discover that ‘druids have been eradicated,’ and Gaea is close to wiping out the rest of humankind. However, there is hope; all is not lost as there is a druid named Will Arbor and when he discovers his purpose and legacy, he sets out on this path and begins an exceptional journey of self-discovery. The reader will follow Will as he comes to terms with the ‘Church of the New Order’ and their mission to destroy the last ever druid. The reader will be taken on a captivating journey full of many twists and turns as well as poignant moments, and this book lovers is the premise of the memorable, Duilleog.”

Now how wonderful does Duilleog sound?! Craobh is a continuation of the story in Duilleog and will reintroduce the reader to the protagonist of the novel, Will Arbor, the last of the druids. In book one he was introduced to many new things, and in the second book, he is introduced to even more new things and goes on an even bigger adventure. The reader will follow Will as he learns more about the Draoi Manuscript and the crucial answers it holds. The reader will follow Will as he learns more about the manuscript as well as himself as he goes on a thrilling adventure full of twists and turns galore and this book lovers is the premise of the thrilling Craobh.

The story laced throughout Craobh is pure fantasy and will send fantasy fans wild because the fantasy laced throughout the book is mesmerizing. The journey the reader encounters in Craobh is just as brilliant, If not more brilliant than the journey in book one Duilleog and I will explain why. I loved the story in Duilleog, so much so that I awarded it five stars! But Duilleog is the first book in the series so of course, it features heavily on plot and world development which I must add was dazzling! My point is that in Craobh the world is already established by the incredible author Donald D. Allan, so now Allan has free reign, he can expand on the book even more and go crazy with plot ideas, characters and magical beings and that is why I feel that I loved Craobh just that bit more because the world is established and the journey thrilling!

Donald D. Allan is seriously an insanely good fantasy writer because he knows what to write to entertain and keep his readers thrilled until the very end. Allan has many strong writing abilities, but his core talent has to be that of world development. The development of the story in Craobh is breathtaking because the world the reader encounters in the first book is expanded on even more. I admit I was shocked by this because I did not believe it could be because the world was so flawlessly and immaculately developed in book one but Allan surprised me and expanded on the story even more, and that deserves a round of applause.

As Craobh is a fascinating, mesmerizing and riveting story that should not be missed, I, of course, have to award the stellar read a magical five stars!

Aimee Ann, thanks once again for a wonderful review. I am so pleased, as always, to hear that a reader has enjoyed my world. Craobh was a fun novel to write, mostly because it is arguably the second half of the first novel, Duilleog. It wrote itself and allowed me to set the stage for the full story, continuing in Stoc and Freamhaigh. I often get asked what the druids (draoi) are to me. I admit to a certain fondness for the Merlin of Mary Stewart. In some ways, the druids in my novels are a little like him. At… Read more »
